And those are from just one developer.

EDIT: Sorry, Okami isn't developed by Team Ico, but my point still stands.


I was just using that as an example but that being said, and along those lines, there are also countless Nintendo titles that do not contain Mario & co (afaik):  Pilotwings, F-Zero, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Wii Sports, Brain Training, Wii Fit, etc.,  so my point still stands as well.

..have you noticed what makes the FF games so good? ah, you must be screaming Characters! the Storys!!!!!!
but we are forgettting something arent we?
What is the Key to FF's succeS?  the RPG elements. Every FF game is about Grinding/gaining XP, customizing your characters with the best weapon/armor(/job) etc etc ....but with a different System......these are called Tweaks.
Square is Tweaking their RPG system, Nintendo is tweaking their franchise. You do not need new characters for this, if super mario galaxy had different characters would you like it more? would you like it less?.
There are plenty of games that nintendo made, yet so many companys make games but do almost the same thing( like on other said : valve....).

Games like zelda and mario sell well because allot of people cant get enough, not because they are deep into their asses with their noses.
Like a GTA fan wants more, like a FF fan wants more etc etc.

Ah thats where your wrong (yes the whole thing).


Ah only problem there is SE actually changes up the story and makes the game not look like last-gen. The RPG formula continues to evolve, has the Mario games formula evolved past Mario sunshine? No. GTA fans want GTA because of the new enviroments in which the gamer will be exploring and the things you get to do there, not so much the story. FF fans (me being a massive FF fan) want the story mainly, with a certain level of open endedness to go with the battles and grinding. If we are forced to grind in cave X without leaving cave X, that sucks. But if we choose to grind in a less demanding cave first then move on to Cave X, thats our choice. Mario games take the same story universe (FF has rarely done this) and involve the same character(s) usually with the same ancient cliche's. Nintendo really needs to establish a new franchise that can take over Mario. They need a new series if you will. And Mario will need to take his overdue retirement. Mario Galaxy should be the send-off.

Actually, I don't like Final Fantasy, nor do I like Grand Theft Auto that much.

Pick on Metal Gear Solid, I like that.

As for my argument, I'll just let Vicophine take care of that.

Status: online 		GTA is GTA different local.  FF is FF with a different story.  Mario is Mario with different ways of doing.

You'll still drive, shoot, and kill in GTA.

You'll still level, ride chocobos, fly airships, and find someone/thing called Cid in FF

You'll still jump, get coins, and save a princess in Mario


Those 3 games are always and will always be the same BUT with changes that make them new again.

Status: online 		Well I'm not to savvy with Metal Gear Solid.  I played the one that was on the GC and that was amazing and I wished they made the other ones for that GC pad

hmm you'll always have rations, cigarettes, and stealthy ways to kill someone in MGS but the story is ever expanding...

Status: online 		Oh true enough only Dragon Quest of theirs links characters together.  In Final Fantasy it's always a new thing going wrong with the world or political, yet you'll see many familar enemies, items, job types, magic, and such, but that's why it's a Final Fantasy game.  We like similarity with our differences.  Makes it easier to move on.  (I'm a big FF nut too)

Status: online 		No I hear you.  You're saying Nintendo coasts along just making a revision of one of their games every few years or so and no one cares.  Yet for my debate I have to use other games as examples that Nintendo isn't the only one doing it and really shouldn't be considered a bad thing when they always bring something new to the table while still holding on to the tried and true.  Plus I was talking FF with Vicophine too

Status: online 		But, I don't really see what it is they've brought new to the table, and they get away with not bringing anything new to the table, for the simple fact that they're Nintendo, and they've achieved too much in the past to be criticised now.

What I'm trying to say is, while people accuse MSFT and Sony of greed, they're the sort of people who refuse to acknowledge what it is that Nintendo are doing with their franchises.

This has been a good debate by the way, PS360Wii!

Status: online 		See this is were I can't fight or explain.  The new stuff is there you just need to look at it, but if you don't want to see it you won't.  Much like the people who don't see the differences in the Halo, GT, MGS, GTA, etc series.


edit: heck ya it has!  I haven't talked this long about a subject in a long time    but yes Nintendo is making bank on the little things.  Like a individual lan wire usb hub, Wii Zapper, Wii Play, two parts to a controller, classic controler.  I just think they are more into milking the accessories then their games.  A true blue Mario game comes usually once per console.

Yeah, I see, but I also have a problem with the GTA, Halo, GT, etc. series, for the exact same reasons. MGS? Not so much. There hasn't been that many Metal Gear Solid games, and the series' plot and gameplay is just... mindblowing.

Just getting any possible self-contradictions out of the way
