Why don't you matter? Because you don't. What matters is that it's the most well received, highest rated by critics, and is heading to sell a large number of copies, beyond whatever records were held for last year. Therefore, it is the biggest and best game release of the year in general terms.

Stop being such a whiny kid about it. All I'm saying is, you have to admit GTA is probably the best sandbox title out there right now, even if you don't like that type of game. I saw you bring it up which is why I replied. I'm not dissing the Wii, nor have I in this thread.

well really highest so far. Only what 17 reviews? Games these days get a little over 100. I'm sure people are going to start rating it like it should be which is somewhere in the high 80's.

The best game it is not. Does it have the casual gamer wanting to buy it? Yes it does which is why it'll sell a boat load like the Wii is. All you need is a game aimed at the casual gamer. Why is it a bad thing Nintendo does it but awesome when Rockstar does it? Because they let you kill grannies instead of goombas?

I doubt it. I generally go off of what is said rather than the rating itself, and I also follow IGN. The significance of a 10 given out like that, and the comments, plus the metascore beating Ocarina of time at this moment is significant. BioShock and Halo 3 couldn't do that much, and they got a flurry of 10s, but it never held out early on (something GTA is doing).

It won't stay at a perfect 100, but it's already beating those games in that respect.

I'm not telling this sidar guy to sell his Wii because he's not getting GTA, I just don't understand why he's bashing it.

Yeah it's putting up a good fight but why? I can see where sidar is coming from because GTA never appealed to me and I'm a male in my late 20's.. so what's up with that!

Everyone says how Mario is the same yet with each GTA it's the same heck even worse than with Mario games. Different local different main guy but still open area which you can steal cars, run down people, beat them up with a bat and shoot them down too. All along the settings of underground criminal activity too. Played GTAIII, you've played San Andreas, Vice City, and IV all in one sitting. That's how I see it and probably how sidar sees it as well. Which is why he's bashing it because if Mario gets as much hate as it does for 'being the same' and GTAIV just gets praise for being so 'original' it would get any sane man angry with the sheer hypocrisy of it all.

... I was trying to think why we are talking of GTA on this thread but then it was used to why the Wii isn't the best. GTA is GTA nothing more nothing less and when you think about it Wii Fit and Mario Kart are the counter points to the game. Sure nothing that the M rated gamer wants but it still offers great fun which is what gaming is all about. If Wii doesn't have GTA it'll still be a great console.

lol yeah I hear you on that. Last thing I heard Saints Row was a mimic of GTA not the other way around

I can see why people like GTA and I can see what it has done for the industry it just never tripped my trigger, but that doesn't stop me from playing it at a friends house.

That's an opinion which most reviewers don't have. If you read any reviewers, they say the opposite of this empty claim.

GTA-nay sayers annoy me, which is the only reason I defended it here, I just didn't realize sidar was only referring to someone's argument.

The problem with that is, if not done well, it could and would fail so hard on so many levels.

At this point I'll settle for an excellently designed world to go around in as I see fit, a feat I feel no game has done that well yet.

Now since there's a solid story in the game it makes sense that you can't just turn your character into whoever you see fit, but the amount of things you can do will still be fun.

Anyway, getting on track to the Wii, I'm planning on playing MK Wii soon. How is that?

Haha, not getting mariokart wii, saving up for wii fit, the anti christ of hardcore gamers. I'm really appealed to skiing and snowboarding, If the next ssx uses the balance board it'd be amazing.

I haven't tried Mario Kart yet but I'll be picking it up today so I'll give you a heads up on it afterwards. So far I've been hearing good things so we'll see.

Yeah I'm actually pretty happy the Balance Board is coming out soon. Sure Wii Fit will be dandy to give it a go but I'm with you on the skiing and snowboarding. That Wii Ski is a stand alone title that uses the balance board for single play and seeing that Wii Fit sold great in Japan and has been doing great in Europe so far something tells me Nintendo may be using the Balance Board for some other games

I'm currently not too interested in WiiFit but that definitely doesn't mean it's not a great game. My balance pretty much sucks tho after I stopped taking martial arts so I may eventually pick it up, especially if/when more balance board-compatible games are released.

Mario Kart's currently the game in my Wii and I must say, it is EXTREMELY fun. The online component is much smoother than Brawl's (which hasn't been too bad for me, but I do experience lag occassionally and it takes me a long time to find other brawlers at times), the music is awesome, and finding ways to boost as much as possible is a welcomed challenge. And actually, the Wii wheel is much more responsive and usable than I expected it to be. Bottom line, the game is great.
