The PSP is great as far as functionality and with some new games (GOW:COO, Patapon etc.) out it's definetely beginning to hold it's own, hence why I own one. but when I'm not commanding little eyeballs through the forest or hacking up the greek un-dead I'm usually messing around on my wife's DS. Who can deny Zelda, Geometry Wars etc...

Although I use my PSP everyday for music and internet on the go I don't think it be called the "best handheld ever" just yet.

did u consider that, aside from the new games that are ds exclusive, you can get all those games on the psp. Like how Nintendo remakes all their old games and adds a few new things to them and releases them on their handhelds(GBA and DS) as if they were new...all the originals can be played on psp via emulator, FOR FREE! Not that i use emulation, b/c I don't wanna brick my slim due to the fact that there isnt surefire CFW that works perfectly on psp...but as for games u cant deny: God of War, Echocrome, BEATS!!

Not to mention all the capabilities that it has once you add in all the cool stuff you can do via remote play. All the Family Guy and Boondocks that I watch have mostly been watched outside of my room on my psp via remote play...and some games work with it.

And before I forget, ALMOST ALL PS1 GAMES WORK ON PSP VIA REMOTE PLAY!!!! I brought my gf's Crash Team Racing from her house to play and went across the hall to watch family guy that night and I accidentally clicked on the game and, to my surprise, IT WORKED! and so do all the ones you can download from the PSN. So the library for psp extends with all of that.

There's also flash games you can save on the memory stick and play

Anyway, I didn't buy a PSP for PS1 games I was hoping for some "next-gen" handheld games which are only now starting to arrive.

All in all the PSP is a great machine I guess I just don't like the words "BEST" and "EVER" used in the same sentence. And personally the fact that you had to make a thread completely dedicated to the opinion that PSP is the best handheld ever made leads me to believe that perhaps "There's a dispicable little lingering doubt in the back of your mind that maybe you're not having as much fun as you've convinced yourself you're having, which doesn't seem to go away no matter how many times you try to slap it down with the wet flannel of weak excuses like..." I just find it odd that you start a thread saying how the PSP is the best ever and you don't even use it to play games for the most part. The games you mainly play can be found on old consoles as well. Not a very strong argument. You know the DS can play emulators and roms as well and it's as easy and drag and drop.. well after you buy the cart for it

There are more exclusive DS games then the PSP games plus as far as putting on a DS emulator on the PSP it won't work for so many of them.

PSP is a great handheld for those who don't have a phone that could do all that already and don't want to play many handheld games while the DS is more for the person that wants to play handheld games.

ok so you guys absolutely missed the point:

That was me, when I started the thread...and if you werent around at that time, you missed that there was a best ever thread for each system, as a joke. The fact that you came here to say that it's not the best ever is totally fine, but when you try to give all the reasons based on what i said and stuff like that for why i shouldn't have started the thread, leave that for somewhere else, it was all out of sarcasm as with the rest of the threads a like from it...its just that every couple days or so, someone brings this topic back out b/c they post in it for some reason. Also, I don't know how "next-gen" a handheld will be, especially since it came out before the next gen consoles...you can only do so much with a handheld gaming system.

It's ok to have your opinion, but dont try to rag on me for making the thread and, for some reason, thinking that i don't think it is the best.

1.@Dont Panic - There is no thought in the back of my mind saying that I'm not having as much fun as I thought I would, because in fact i am having more. I didnt buy this to be the end all play all the time system. I bought it for what it does, not just the games, as i said, i dont use emulators and I've only bought 2 games for it, but I use the hell out of all the other features.

2.@PS360WII - Same thing as i said before, just because i think it could be the best, doesnt mean i think it is best for games...the thread says best handheld ever...not handheld gaming system. And the games I do play on it cannot all be found on old systems, that is where you have confused DS(and GBA) with the PSP...Nintendo remakes all those games, switches them up a little and adds the name of the system on the end of it so you get games like "Super Mario Bros DS" and "Super Mario Kart Advanced". That is what I call having games that can be found on the old systems dating back to before Sony was even making games at all. So that excuse is the weak excuse b/c DS has more games from old systems than the PSP, and truly the only old games on PSP that were on old systems that I know off the top of my head would be the Final Fantasy/Square Enix games.

Unlike all the Nintendo handhelds, the PSP is not based on all those old games being remade and having a second screen on it...I cant even imagine why anyone would say that about the PSP, unless you are referring to the emulator games...just look at the DS and all other Nintendo Handelds: Pokemon, Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Metroid....its all the same every year, the GBA was basicall a portable NES/SNES minus all those pokemon games.

Also, to say that the DS can do the same stuff PSP does w/ emulations and such after buying some piece of equipment...how many people are out there making DS emulators and on top of that, how many people are using it for emulation. And Name me a phone, besides the iPhone that does all the PSP stuff..in good quality...compare ratchet and clank mobile to the psp, compare movies and tv shows to the psp quality, compare internet radio to psp, compare the amount of space you could have to hold all your media files to that of the psp, compare remote play w/ the PS3, compare online/ad-hoc multiplayer gaming, go to Europe and japan, add the camera and the GPS stuff to it along with a headset for skype: TELL ME OF A PHONE THAT DOES IT THE SAME OR BETTER

...not event the iphone comes close, and it still costs more.

The original game boy is the best hand held system. The psp is alright it is good now. At the beginning it had no games it had nothing the only reason most people bought it was for modding reasons. That was the reason i had gotten one at least. Then it broke and now i do not have one at the times of the good games. Now that it had gotten games i think it is getting better also since you can use it to connect to your ps3 play music and all that good stuff. But to me the game boy is the best

Hey first off the DS has plenty more games then just remakes and yes I was referring to the PSP only having good games found on other systems. The good PSP games are ports or spin offs of PS2 titles. As far as the joke thread yes I was around but now that you are starting to defend it you must mean it. There are many handhelds (non gaming ones) out that do what the PSP does

You would be suprised how many DS emulators are out. Well done on ruling out the iPhone seeing that it does trump what the PSP is. So if you want me to name a phone that does what the psp does but you can't name the one that can.... right. Oh how about any phone that uses MS windows. You can put a lot of crap on that and business stuff to. There you go.

In a fight of handheld gaming devices DS wins. I don't care if the PSP has awesome graphics the DS has more titles that are not rehashes and yes of course they have rehashes as well. Just not as much as the PSP. You say the PSP isn't filled with rehashes but it's filled to the brim with old rehashes of PS1 & 2 games. Syphon Filter, God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Killzone, Ratchet & Clank, GTA, Final Fantasys, Metal of Honor, Daxter, Hot Shots Golf, Socom, Ridge Racer, etc.... yeah good thing I've never heard of those games.

yea well, can you give examples....i gave you facts/examples behind my points, you have just generalized a lot of stuff, seriously, I own a Palm Treo, and it is in no comparison to a psp, the OS sucks and the stuff that you can do is limited compared to psp, not to mention for a lot of things you would need to pay for the internet data package which the smallest one costs over $70, at least on Verizon...iphone is good and all, but trumping the psp is a longshot there, I dont know why you are being so defensive, i didnt call out the DS until you started defending it

This is why threads get locked, people see a thread supporting something and automatically assume it is attacking something else, or feel the need to defend their system in that thread...this is a psp greatness thread, either you give reasons why you agree or just say you dont...there is no need to go on comparing other systems and trying to defend something which wasnt being bothered in the first place.

Seriously this was intended to be a joke thread until people started getting all uptight...i made a psp appreciation thread a while ago, not saying it is the best ever, just stating all the good things about it b/c I like it a lot, and i did so w/o attacking or badmouthing any other system or handheld...why cant people just have their opinions w/o attacking other people's opinions here???

Wow..... now that's alot of text. I suppose I'm lucky that only a small portion of it was in ALL CAPS and followed by a few exclamation points. Anyway, I can only assume at this point that you're not a fan of the Zero Punctuation reviews beacuse if you were the joke would have been obvious. Oh, and I don't think anyone is attacking anybody here, we're simply having a "discussion". It's a point - counter point kind of thing.

Threads get locked when people start going off topic. If the thread is about the psp is the best then posts stating how it's not count as well. If I where to start talking about how I got a mean black eye from getting punched by a hooker then yeah that would start the path to locking.

I know the iPhone does many things with movies, music, and games all of which the PSP does too. In fact the iPhone is going to get Spore and many other games once the SDK is released to the public. If you check the specs of iPhone to PSP you'd see the big difference. I know there are a lot of Windows Mobile phones that have music, movies, and games that people can put on themselves so they are out there.

Yes I brought up the DS that was a punk move I'll admit that plus I was okay with this thread when it started off but then I check it today and the latest posts had me thinking so thats why I wrote about what the DS can do emulators to and that you seem to only use the PSP as I do with phones so why bother. Then my last post was the rebuttal of your attack on the DS. That's when I put on my blinders
