Signing up was annoying, but what WILL piss me off is if I need to re-add all my buddies in MGO. I also have no idea which is for what: Konami and Game ID. Wtf?

yeah kinda confusing.

Konami ID is for the site
Gamer ID is for the game i think.

my only problem Syko is that ppl are blowing it way outta proportion way to early.  this could only be FOR the BETA.  we dont know why Konami did it this way.  but all i know is its free and doesnt take up but 5 minutes of my time.  if it continues on after MGO is released...yes let the S hit the F.

Really that is all I am saying too, but if this makes it to the retail like this I think Sony needs to rethink their strategy if they let their flagship title fail in the respects of PSN integration. This will trump the 640p Halo scandal LOL.

i think thats why ppl in the main site are looking like what some call "fanboys".  its a BETA...pre-release.  its not set in stone that this is going to be the way the final version is.  im sure us BETA players can stick it out for a BETA without their gamertags.

the attacks at Sony for Konami's desicion is nonsense.  if Sony blatantly said "oh no...none of that tom-foolery on the PSN" i say attack away cuz thats horse crap.

Problem is Solar is that Konami uses this system in Japan for all Konami games and if they are controlling the online they very well might use this for the actual retail release too.

hey,

someone posted that on the Beta paper that came with Saga 2. it says that the beta is not linked to the PSN. so this might only be for the beta.
EDIT: yeah i just read it. it says PSN is not used for online play. i don't know if this just means the beta or the actual final build.

Face the truth.

Konami would have done this crap even if the game were on 360. Why? Because a logic defying plan with no purpose will not cease to defy logic even if given an integrated service.

I'm pretty much thinking this extra service will be needed for the final build. However, I'm hoping this doesn't turn out to be true.

Have you guys thought about the fact that maybe Konami wants to have total control of the online aspect? As far as moderation goes, whereareas letting Sony handle it through PSN wouldn't get the job done.

Regardless, i spent 5 minutes out of my busy day and set up my account already.
My user name will be the same as my live gamertag except for the underscore.
psych0_p0w3r

It has nothing to do with defending. If i had to do this for every game i would be extremely upset, but since that's not the case i'll just deal with having wasted 5 minutes out of my day.  We all know that live is superior to PSN when it comes to several things, and the reason PS3 guys keep defending is because 360 guys keep throwing it in their face about how much better live is. remember, it irritates sony guys when you guys keep bringing up live as much as it irritates you having to keep hearing people defend PSN.

I don't think anyone considers this sonys online flagship title....Resistance 2 has that title guaranteed(and insomniac does it great). Yea I agree It should use the PSN ID like all the rest of the games for the sake of unification. But then again you guys are being sorta whiney. The PSN is slowly evolving and getting better each day u people are acting like this is the norm. The only thing people should really be complaining about is communications and without in-game xmb developers are having to implement these things theirselves.

Konami ID = Konami online shop ID
Game ID = Log in ID for MGO/Konami online game

But it uses PSN ID as your ID.

You don't need Konami ID for playing MGO.

@sheng long
I think so.
EA also controls all the online aspect in their online games. But EA doesn't ask users to get EA ID for playing EA online game, just linking PSN ID/gamertag to EA ID.

EA>>>>>>>>>Konami

If you don't like it, rant at and don't buy their products. This is the best way to change retarded company's mind

Resistance 2 is hardly a flagship title. Purely for online play, maybe.

This game as it is bundled with MGS, is a pseudo-flagship title as it is part of MGS but this element is not the part that attracts most players. (I would hope people buy MGS4 for MGS4.)

Follow the link to the Konami ID page, register, and choose a KONAMI ID and GAME ID, your GAME ID is probably what's used for MGO.

@timmy: I'm aware. I just won't call that a guarantee, at all, based on R1.
