Status: offline 		So why isn't the price of beer outrageous?  I would think a 12 pack of budlight should cost $20 because of crappy taxes.

Status: offline 		They'll never make cigarettes illegal.  The only way they could is if they made something not illegal which they won't do either.  So it'll be this ban but still sell for a while till the only spot left to smoke is under your bed in your house with the doors closed and the lights turned off.

There is quite a hefty tax on Alcohol too, although not as severe because the alcohol makers still have say in things like advertising and drinking is still "Socially Acceptable". They heavily tax tobacco because they can, and do get away with it. The Tobacco companies cant advertise anymore and have no credibility in the public eye so the government and states can impose harsh taxes with little recourse.

I have smoked for 10 years.. started smoking at 14 stealing them from my parents
I smoke Marlboro Reds in the box
I burn about 20 cigarettes a day
I have quit succesfully once for 4 months or so by means of ColD TurkeY
I went to hypnotist once... what a rip that was

I also Drink
And Completely Back every smoking in bars rant in this thread.
At least I still have my casino in which I can smoke and drink myself silly all while gambling to boot.. 3 addictions at once ftw.

Status: offline 		I wouldn't care if a smoker was near me at a bar. Why should I care? The complete drunkards are far more annoying.


Slightly OT:
One thing that does piss me off is cig smokers who frown on weed. I was talking to a Supreme Court Judge today (Brampton Courthouse, if any of you Canadians know of it) and it's beyond him why the drug is illegal. He says the worst "drug" involved in crimes he deals with is alcohol, almost never weed (unless there's a dealer or grow-op).

Now if a cig smoker had no problem with weed, obviously that doesn't apply.
