Halo 1 changed A LOT for the FPS genre.

1. It was the first to have real sandbox levels, where you were tasked with both large outdoor areas and traditional indoor areas.

2. It introduced some of the best streamlined vechile intergration into an FPS

3. It create what is now common in most FPS which is the more hunting and gathering weapon pick system e.g. 2 weapons max not 10 different weapons. AND the regenitive health system instead of the old way of picking up healths from the ground.

But Haze is the sux I've said it since it was first shown

You forgot about LAN.

lol wurt?

LAN was available yonks before Halo

For console gaming?

I don't really know whether Haze is generic or not, I just don't find interest in the game.

And I can't believe that anyone could mistake those for multiplayer screenshots - LOLOLOLOLOL?

We've all seen the trailers. Why is it hard to believe the screen shots are real when I just watched the same screens in motion on XPLAY?

They're clearly concept. At the least, they're notably touched up. That's not in game, my friend.

Exactly why does no one like this game? It has great potential and is coming from a kick a$$ studio. The game looks great despite what everyone’s saying. And let’s ditch the 'generic' label because it really doesn’t apply. Halo 3 and COD4 (I own and love both games) are two great FPSs. They are still FPSs and have the same DNA as every FPS before them. That's what makes them part of the genre. They have great features that set them apart. But the fact is most FPSs have similar game play. No one has played the game and it seems half of you haven't played previous games from FRD. To me a generic FPS would be a game that had no thought process and was bare bones, oh and has a development cycle of less than a year (just an example). FRD is responsible for titles that have hit Halo status before so I think the quality is a little better than generic.  Can someone give me a legitimate reason why this game absolutely sucks instead of providing fragments or one sentence punch lines? I mean Halo3 is not graphically superior. Its a great game but what really has it done that can't be done elsewhere. We have'nt played Haze. Save the criticism until the demo atlleast drops!

I agree with you to some extent. I'll see how the demo is whenever it comes.

no-one was giving this game a second look until it went exclusive.

Sure they're touched up. I can see how the resolution is higher and things are a lot sharper. But throwing something In Photoshop and tweaking levels dosen't mean you are taking away from the visual quality entirely. They are enhanced yes but so is this screen shot:

http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/734817/halo-3/images/halo-3-20071203013909159.html

and this:

http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/734817/halo-3/images/halo-3-20070923023650208.html

and of course that:

http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/734817/halo-3/images/halo-3-20070923025114400.html

This screen shot looks great and is probably enhanced in Photoshop.

http://ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/812550/naughty-dog-ps3-project/images/uncharted-drakes-fortune-interview-20071210072850327.html

But sure enough the game actually looks beautiful and really that good.

So could Haze possibly look like the screen shots shown minus some resolution, sure why not. Its not at all far fetched. Every video you've seen was just that, a video. Watching a video of a video reduces quality. So, until we get the game on our big LCD HD TVs we really have no clue how close the shots are to the videos you've seen.

Who cares the game is exclusive? Its made by FRD. COD4 isn't exclusive and the hype was incredible!? I saw this game and who made it and wanted to play it. Its looks good and there was plenty of hype about it when it was announced. Ha exclusive?

How are those halo screens touched up?

Halo 3 looks much better than that on my 1080p set.

I took this shot using the screenshot function which adds AA but reduces the quality a bit (in comparison to my set)

Let say that the graphics are good. It's still not a huge jump over cod4. I am going to pass on Haze. I already bought my generic FPS of the year, Rainbow 6v2.00.

Left4Dead
Battlefield
Fallout 3
Buy one of these games.

Yeah Halo looks great on my 1080P too and those screen shots you just showed are freaking wonderful. They look like they may have some altera... I mean they look in game. That's my point. The screen I showed of Uncharted ( a gorgeous game, more beautiful than Halo 3 ) looks fantastic and maybe tweaked. A matter of fact it looks fake just like the ones linked to Haze. So, maybe waiting until you actually see the game running could give a solid argument to how close the screen shots are to the game because... some games just look that good. I'm a critical person but I've been proven wrong in the past. I'm just saying "what's the points really?"

The game could look good (Haze). Those screens are touched, as others have been, but yeah. The game could look great when it comes out, who knows. I'll play the demo but, I'm just right now not in the hype for Haze. I've other games hyped currently, maybe that's why.
