It is strange, I see the stereotype of the "gamer" breaking in my school, there are tons of girls (hot girls by the way) that play and talk about GTA4.

3. I have been living in bliss with the woman of my dreams, my wife, for 4 years. My "superhero" colleague hires hookers and has profiles on various adult sites.

So I reckon that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, coz people like me will throw bricks right back at them.

What's bolded was very well said.

And I can identify with number 3. These "big-talkers" are the ones that always strike out after spending 500$ on some girl in a club on drinks for a little 30 second make-out session.

Sukkas! I'm not the gaming stereo type, irregardless of how much gaming I do. I mostly do my gaming after work (since there's not much else I really want to be doing)

Other than that, my Friday night and Weekend are spent with my girlfriend (typically another thing a gamer stereo type isn't suppose to have). And I like my life like this. Granted, come going back to school, I'll be wasting my time playing games and not doing school work, but I'll find my balance.

I say be involved (in gaming) but don't devote your life to it.

Yea, everyone thinks  your a nerd if you tell them you play video games.  my family blows it out of porportion. most of my friends game, and none of us are "nerds". not with my mid-term grades at least. i think some people think i'm like that WOW guy from the south park episode.People think i'm a techie becuase i compare things like Ram in the present consoles.

I used to get that in highschool...until I started boxing and working out.

In college nobody just assumes that now...

That is, until I start talking about the latest games and crap...It surprises people, they expect me to be some bar-hopping jock or something.

That's me. When someone asks if I play video games, I say I do, but I don't pursue the issue.

That's me. But for name's sake I'm not going into detail.

Yeah I guess I am "one of those", fortunately there are lots of "us" everywhere.

Besides, if 5 million women can't be wrong about brand this or that of make up, then the millions upon millions of gamers can't be wrong either.

I really don't think that there are as many other guys out there that think of gaming guys as "those guys" any more. Now it may sound jockish here but i was at the gym the other day and over heard several guys that were way more dedicated to the gym than i am talking how they wanted to hurry up and get done so they could play some games. Then right on que their girls started whining about how they were going to do nothing for the rest of the day but play video games.

The "those guys" attitude towards gaming is becoming much smaller i feel. When i'm asked what my hobbies are I will always put gaming at the top and it's been a while since i got a "those guys" look or comment.

people are actually surprised that i'm into video games this much.
if it wasn't for facebook, i doubt anyone would have known i was this deep into video games.
especially the life style i lived for half of my life.
actually, people hardly even know the person i am.
