1-5 and A-F are utter garbage

go with a 1-10 scale

Maybe go 1-11 that way if you give a game a 10 it won't mean it's perfect

0-10 it is a simple scale for rating it is better then 0/1000 once i had seen that and it was really strange.

Gotta be 0-100

If it's 7 or 7.5 I may be on the fence but 77% (as mentioned) is a big difference and sways me more towards a title.....

I would say that I find it hard to believe someone actually knows how to be so specific though.

Either 1-10 or 1-5 be a very good grading scale

I actually prefer %, so I'd say 0-100 is the best in my opinion =)

So "Q The Crew" has a friend, "Crew Qs You" (or "Q from the Crew", not sure which is better).

Anyway, I like the letter system. That way everyone knows that a C is average. With numbers you've got average games getting 7's, and that just doesn't work. Like you guys have said before, no game gets 5s or 6s anymore.

I probably prefer 1-10, although i generally dont like any of the grading systems, I prefer it when reviewers list pros and cons of a game, rather than setting it to a specific number

I think a 1-3 scale works best.

Burn it.
Rent it.
Buy it.

A great system, But That kind of rating system = Site shut down
why?
No contrevercy, no hits :)
If theres something I've learned here in n4g is that a .1 score higher or lower between the two competing consoles(xb&ps) = high temp and alot of hits :P

My problem with these scales is that it comes down to personal taste more than anything.

Like I said before, a football game can get 15/10. It can have a story mode that rivals (insert your favorite story based game here), have the greatest control setup ever made, have graphics that surpass real-life.

To me this game is still a 3 and under by sheer virtue that I think football games are boring.

By contrast, a game might get under rated because it's very niche and made to appeal to a certain group of fans, and for them that game might be a 10, but to someone not interested in mech-tentacle rape porn, the game is bust.

Hence why my example would have to designate the target.

2 examples:

Real Life Pro Football Simulator 2009
(Pros, Cons [outlining of certain flaws, technical problems, empirical stuff that's very tangible and not subjective])
Buy it if you like football games
Rent it if you're a fan of the sport, but don't think you would last through the franchise mode
Skip this amazing super fantastic title if you couldn't care less about sports games.

Zone of the Enders 3
Buy it if you like Mech Action/Science Fiction//Political Dramas
Rent it if you're ok with the idea of fast paced fighting robots/ general action games
Skip it if you're not a fan of the action genre or hate mech games with your whole heart.

0 - 100

As people have said, there is no point having review scores like 6.7, 8.5 etc. Why not just use the %, it's basically the same thing.

This is my first post so be gentle.....Been listening to the podcast now for about a month, and have been thouroughly enjoying each one.   Keep up the good work.   Ummm to answer the question, I prefer 0-10 scoring system.  1-5 is too small, and 1-100 is too big!!  A-F just plains suck!!   Oh, I just finished listening to this past weeks podcast, and I have to say that Im surprised that some of you are complaining about the driving in GTA 4.  Im 20 percent done with the game, and I'm not having trouble driving at all.....are you guys gunning around the corners expecting the car not to spin out???  I've crashed a few times and failed missions, but thats to be expected sometimes....I've had to redo a mission no more than twice so far.   I don't think the game derserves a 10 though, I would give it a 9.5 so far.  Im playing it on the PS3
