How the hell does the wii pull out 400,000 in a week? The weekend that GTA comes out again. Am i the only one that thinks this is impossible?

It's funny bc I posted in the VG Chartz thread that VG Chartz wasn't a reliable source. Then I received multiple disagrees. When the truth is that VG Chartz IS unreliable.

It could be possible. If you think about it, The Wii caters to the casual crowd which is definately a bigger demographic than the hardcore gaming crowd. The funny thing about it is that a lot of PS2 gamers were the casual crowd and may be buying a Wii.

Another consideration also is that Wii is usually sold out. Perhaps Nintendo has finally caught up on the manufacturing end of things.

I haven't really been paying attention to sales but if anyone can do it its the Wii. Although Nintendo still trying to make it seem like the Wii is out of stock bugs me.

400,000 a week is A LOT. For those kind of hardware sales, i would expect a lot more software than 1.2mill from mario kart. Wii's are usually out of stock and if things changed, i think some of us would have noticed. I find it hard to believe they got enough stock to supply 400,000 in a week in america when they are only manufacturing 1.2 million worldwide

Other then NPD, VGChartz is the most reliable source out there. Go ahead and instantly disagree with me, but VGChartz is pretty reliable. Probably the most reliable source on the internet, in my opinion.

the wii has been the #1 selling console for quite some time now, i dont think its that surprising.

I believe it. In the mist of all the GTA ads and shock and awe it is getting many people don't want their household to have that game specially when Mario Kart just came out as well and from vg is shows it almost sold more than what the PS3 GTA sold. Yes 400k is a massive number for one week but also there is Wii Fit that is being heavily promoted and it seems people are digging the interactivity the Wii is bringing. Sure most are not going to be the most avid player but some could turn into one.

Maybe not. I just find it hard to believe the wii sold 400,000 and no one noticed anything. The software sales aren't really justifying such massive sales. I have been trying to get a wii for my little sister for months so i always keep an eye out for wii stock. Can't believe i missed out on the increased stock. We'll know when npd arives though

what do you mean the software sales don't add up? If you use vgcharts you must of noticed that for all the weeks it's been selling the Wii is the top in software sales and sometimes only second to 360 by a little bit.
