resistance2 has 8 player online coop, 2 campaigns, and 60 player online squad based multiplayer.... Gears2 has 1 8 hour campaign and 5v5 multiplayer...which game is better? hmm....

You do realize more does not equal better? Say it with me "More does not equal better!". 8player co-op and 60 players online is fine, but if it's the same as R:FOM it will be nothing special. Nice call on the Gears 2 info, though.

I think the main diffrence betwen the two is that gears does not seem generic. The multiplayer feels perfect to me small games were Its more fun becase you can get payback much easier.

After playing uncharted and dark sektor, i am not so sure about gears not feeling so generic. The whole hide for cover pop out every couple of seconds gets old after about 6hrs to me. Now that so many games have been doing it, the pop up shoot mechanic has completely lost its effect but regardless gears of war 2 looks amazing and that alone is enough for me to buy it

Lol don't get me wrong i give 100% credit to gears for all that sh!t. It really did deserve all the sales and reviews. But if everything is going to be more of the same, the game won't feel as nice the 2nd time as the first. I could be wrong. GOW1 & 2 were the same gameplay wise but i still loved it HARD

As far as improvements are concerned I think R2 has the upper hand so far from what I have seen of both. It would also serve us well to remember that R1 was a rushed launch title while GoW was released almost a year after launch.

I think this time around there can be no excuses from either side both Insomniac and Epic have a firm grasp on developing for the related console.

And also to be fair lets all wait till the games are out of Beta.

The game that will do better in sales is Gears 2.  But the game i will like better only because i have that system and that is Resistance.  Both will do good for what they are.  There both two different types of games we will have to wait and see when they are released.

It CAN equal better though. It's deeply a question of management.

I swear people who use the term "generic" to reffer to PS3 games have become so redundant these days.
If asked to explain what makes the game (mind you now they have most likely never played it before) generic they would probably not be able to.

Honestly the single thing that made Resistance 1 a generic shooter to me was the pacing. I was so boring at times. The highlights for me in that game is when you and the british comando steal the alien biped tank. I also think the outdated shooting mechanics might have had a little to do with it also.

Again why are we talking about gameplay features when we have no official info on Gears?

Cause everyone is just going on guess and we really don't know what new things they have in resistance besides the campaign and mulit player modes.

Every game is generic and repetitive.

All that really matters nowadays is pacing, art style, and story.

If the art style and graphics, the world in general interest you, it'll make the game for you.

Resistance had me hooked on the alternate history thing. I like these kinds of games and it's why I enjoyed Freedom Fighters so much. If the story took place in the future, it would just be a Halo wannabe.

I've seen realtime demo's of both R-FOM2 and GEARS2. The answer is simple....

If you own 360 & PS3 then enjoy them both cos they are hot in their respective areas. Gears is 3rd person, so I'm not even sure if the whole v.s thing is relevant. However, from a system seller point of view, i'm not convinced either camp will desert their consoles or purchase one just to play these games. GTA4 is a system mover, some will buy Gears2 and/or R-FOM2 bundles, but nowhere near the numbers moved by GTA4.

I owned a 360 once, and really enjoyed Gears, but it was a little short...and I couldn't help wishing it unlocked a FPS mode when I completed it. R-FOM was long but, as a launch title, a bit rough with the textures, and the narrative sucked, but for me the multiplayer was better. I lived in the online universe of the Bus Shelter Map 24/7. All my mates were hooked too. It was a standard setter for in game communication, eg. ingame messaging, voicechat the works!

I can hear 360 owners screaming at me ...."so what, that's standard on our console" - yeah, okay you got me, anyways....?

If I owned both consoles, I'd buy both. As a PS3 owner Resistance 2 is the one for me....I hope Bioshock/Mass Effect series will drop on to PS3,  I love the atmosphere of these titles.

I don't care for exclusivity on any platform...games for ALL!!

I think you left out, CONTROL. Online, amount of content, etc.

Every game is generic 'nowadays'? Compared to what? You can do a lot more in games today than you could do 10 years ago. To a degree, even 5.

I think he's talking about the shift in development that happens usually in atleast one genre every generation.

Last gen it was FPS games, and how Halo created the now standard regen health system, and 2 weapons only gather use system. Which is pretty much how all FPS work now.

I think this gen for now atleast its been Gears and popularizing the cover system, but I believe LBP and games like it will usher in everyone wanting to have some kind of user creater content.
