Please consider the forums the Uber Gamer Zone of the site. Please review the Rules and Guidelines.

But getting back to the topic at hand, by the time a sequel to Gears2 comes out, the install base for PS3 will be so large that the profits from that alone will far outweigh whatever MS could offer. Not to mention, this is Epic's hottest property, and if they want to stay in touch w/ consumer in PS3 dominant territories like Japan, Asia, and Europe, they'd be better off releasing it on PS3.

As for Gears of War 3 coming to PS3... it's more than possible, but... I'm not sure I'll really be bothered about it by that time. We'll just have to see. Whenever people instantly make assumptions based on what they believe to be fact, they often end up looking very, very silly (theMART demonstrated this in dozens of his "predictions", especially regarding Blu-Ray).

I completely forgot this point.

MS put a team together a few months ago lead by Former boss of EA chiacgo for the entire Gears Brand, if MS didn't have a long term control on the IP why would they create an entire to help manage the IP

Epic Games owns the Gears of War IP:

But there's no way Microsoft would not extend their publishing rights once the original contract is fulfilled.

Last time I checked MS only has the publishing rights for 2 games (we don't know if this has changed to more games) but so far it appears that they would have to make ANOTHER contract if they want the third one to be exclusive, I still find it hilarious how people throw around the whole "but they bought the IP" like it was a common practice as easy as going to the convenience store and picking one from the shelve do people even know how hard its for an external company to actually buy an IP even worse after its very successful?, since Epic is private its very hard that they would let go one of there new cash cow franchises when they would at the end make more money by making MS renew there exclusivity contract or releasing it multiplat that making the one time sell

I thought people would have already learned the lesson about not using the "but they bought the IP" so lightly after Bioshock and Mass Effect after being said a MILLION times that MS owned the IPs to finding they only had a timed exclusive contract in the case of Bioshock as confirmed by 2K themselves or a publishing contract with Mass Effect as was obvious after the EA buyout

now answering the question, unless MS makes a new publishing contract with Epic for Gears 3 then there is a good chance it might come to the PS3

umm everyone knew that Mass Effect was owned by Bioware, and Bioshock by take two.
What you fail to mention is that no Take Two has never said they are working on a PS3 version and that Bioware said Mass Effect will STILL be exsclusive to the 360 even the other 2 parts.

Also why is it that third party exsclusives that aren't publuished by Sony could NEVER go to another system, but games Published by MS can?

I don't know if you knew or other people knew (or you are just pretending) but when Bioshock was announced exclusive all of a sudden to the 360 and PC till the first rumors of a PS3 port started to surface a LARGE amount of people in the comment section said it was never coming cuz MS had bough the IP same goes for Mass Effect you can go and check the comment section and hell you might even find me commenting on how unlikely it was that they bought the IP, so no...no point on spinning NOW tha people knew and yet not so long ago kept on posting the opposite be either by Fanboyis or ignorance...I think you have been here long before me to know better.

With Mass Effect you bet there devs might be wanting to be 360 exclusive all the way cuz of there special relation with MS all those years but lets be honest unless there is a HUGE contract with MS and EA its almost guaranteed EA willl force the game multiplat (sooner or later)...hell its EA there is gonna be Mass Effect on everything with on/off button, regarding Bishock 2K is always beating around the bush saying that no PS3 version has been announced at this time while this tell you there isn't necessarily a port coming but it tells you that right now there doesn't seem nothing to stop it since before it was the "MS contract shield" response now its just "not right now" responce

and regarding your usual defensive last comment, what game the we know for sure has no contract or string attached of any kind would you be talking about?

EA is a business yes, but the one thing you don't want to do is piss off one of your largest customers, MS has prob made sure that ME stays on the 360, with a PC version as well, that would more then make up for any money lost on a possible PS3 version.

I have no specific example all I am saying is people find it so reasonable of an idea, that games like Gears of War 3, NG2, MS, all could come to the PS3 when they are published or co-created with MS, but if the idea of a Sony game coming to the 360 comes up even one without Sony publishing it, it sounds like the stupidest thing.

Like I said for Bioshock we dont know for sure if there is a port in the works or is there gonna be ever one but so far there doesn't seem to be anything stopping it from happening, EA in the other hand knowing how there favorite color is the green its very likely that the only thing they might offer MS is a timed exclusive after a ridiculous amount of cash but its almost guaranteed that after the contract we will see Mass Effect on my GBA along with any other thing you can play things on, well in my comment on those games you mentioned, Gears 3 unless MS makes a new exclusive contract (which is very likely but not confirmed) its possible it will come to the PS3, with NG2 its harder since MS has right now the publishing rights and Tecmo would have to wait till it expires and make ANOTHER version of it to release it under them...and I dont know they are going to go thru all the effort and its not happened any time soon (but you be sure as hell I am buying NG2 next month :D)...what is MS? well if you ask me I dont care the company unless you give me facts that I can check about the state of the specific game exclusivity status I wouldn't jump into ANY conclusions like so many people do for an specific bias with one company for example if we switch ot the other side of the fence a game like Haze I guarantee you has some sort of contract with Sony for its exclusivity and if its timed exclusive Ubisoft might make a port

if we talk about LBP depending on the success there is a BIG chance Sony might buy the dev to ensure the IP like they did with Evolution Studios with MotorStorm since that has been a common practice for Sony
