Story is paramount for me, with gameplay running a very close second

FPS's haven't had a good storyline since Quake. Sorry, but it's the truth.
a always watch the story from any game.

and R:FOM story is sexellent for a shooter.

No the story in Quake was awesome. No matter how much more time devoted to a story in a fps can match what Quake managed to pull off in it's story. No way, no how.

It'll be impossible to recreate such a tale.

a good game with no story will always be a good game, however a good game and a good story makes a great game

No, because I don't care for it. If the game I'm playing is good (gameplay) why should I care for storyline? Go read a book if you want story, you chumps!

Story is the first thing I ever want from a game.

If its non existant its feels incomplete to me.

People will probably hang me for this, but thats the main reason for me not liking Gears.

What I hate the most is when people go "But..bu..bu..the story is so rich and full" ...yeah ok, in the booklet...if the its all in the booklet it doesn't count.

story is generally the most important aspect (with some exceptions such as racers or Morrowind where story is virtually non-exsistant) followed closly by gameplay (specifically battle system. boring fights ruin awsome stories) and character believability. ex: Grandia 3 story is a melting pot for overused rpg cliches and the only characters that actually seem like people leave the party 3 hours in. The saving grace is the battle system which is entertaining for hours on end.
