ORIGINAL: DrPirate Nah, the "Point" of LBP is to create a fun an innovative platformer using tools that manipulate phyics, materials, basic mechanics, and so on in order to create a fun, 2d platformer and gametype. Then, you can share your creations. The Point of Forge, is creating new gametypes using existing materials and constant physics in a set environment. They are not the same at all. However, I'm pointing out that neither is new. Starcraft released a map editor that allowed anyone to use an easy scripting language, combined with the power of a editing the environment and unit properties to alter the way the game is played and introducing the prospect of new game types along with it. The successors of this are things like LBP and Forge. PC mods (Like TF, TFC, CS, BF2 mods, Cryssis Mods, Oblivion Mods) are the successors of modding .WAD files for Doom and Wolfenstein. I would know only because my friends (who are now computer science graduated) have been making me test their games for ages. I literally saw the progression of modification of existing game code through my friends very early on. AGAIN, you are missing the point of LBP. It has not really been done before, and it is not entirely "2D"... What you can do and create in LBP is above and beyond the fun of customizing a map in forge, or even a level editor. It is more direct and easy. Thats why it hasn't REALLY been done before.... quote:

ORIGINAL: sonarus You are comparing altering multiplayer maps to building platforming levels. Can you not see that you are a troll? what the hell is the difference? map is to FPS as level is to platformer You, my friend, are an idiot. This is what I have to say to you about comparing forge to LBP. GO WATCH EVERY VIDEO OF LBP ON GAMETRAILERS.COM. Then tell me they are similar. Moving blocks and objects around vs actually CREATING things is different. Dude come on wake up.
