the answer is twofold and hopefully the examples make it clear:  Firstly, say I click over to the forums and I see a thread with a potentially flame-y title and no responses; I immediately check it out.  

Secondly, there have been times, more often than you realize, where a thread is just fine but people still post "in b4 lock" b/c they think it should be locked, and we then have to delete all of those as off-topic.

Status: offline 		I actually post in these threads to make sure they stay up on the recent post ladder, and mods can easily notice them.  Also so that the numb nut threadmaker wont make any more threads if he see's the other one is getting replies.  Anything that makes it easier to notice this scum and get his/her account banned.  But i see where you are coming from.. so I'll stop.

Wouldn't it be easier to just PM a mod about it, or several.

I've also noticed some new members are just around to spam and star fights. RealityStrike2 comes to mind...

You have to type more than one word in either the title, or subject.  To be safe, I would type more than one word in both.

I know the temptation on replying on the F^&^^&(*^() trolls that appear on the forums but seriously, let's just ignore them.  Even if they just post on a non fanboyish article, they'll soon hide in there little caves as long as we don't pay attention to them.

I know what you mean by epic in the context of troll but I would rather use the term "pimple on the ass of life". Instead of joining up and expressing opinions, chatting, etc, these trolls waste their time joining over and over again. They think they are getting positive attention when they are just being laughed at. Sad really.

Status: offline 		Well really some people just like attention and negative attention is still attention so they'll take it plus for them it's easier to be a troll to get the fast acting attention then the slow build up of positive attention.

Oh yeah and for some reason that report button next to post count never registered in my brain till now as well.... odd
