ORIGINAL: morganfell don't waste your money on this one. the game is about as linear as they come. for certain people talking trash on this board about replay value they don't understand how broken this game is. fighting, well they couldn't get that right either. it's button mashing. bourne is too stupid to pick up a tonfa when he keeps getting his ass beat by them. he'll finally snatch the nightclub away from a guy, knock him down, turn to face the guy's buddy that also has a nightclub and what does bourne do? throws his down. or when you start meeting more advanced fighters like the paris assassin you meet first. all boss battles are the same thing, they just get harder. you beat the gut down to the point you do 2-3 takedowns. at that point he pulls out a knife. and here is a cardinal rule the devs clearly forgot. never let the ai do something the player can't. as a player you can throw two different kinds of punches and two different kinds of kicks. except you truly cannot do punch/kick combos like the ai. the ai can throw a punch and immediately kick. they can kick punch punch kick. they can kick kick kick punch. you can't. you can throw a punch. you can throw punch punch. you can throw a punch punch punch. you can, well you get the picture. the dumb control solution these devs created screws the player. to kick you have to hold down either the square or triangle until the kick executes. and you can't punch during that time. so throw a punch and then wait 3 seconds or more to kick. which usually won't happen because the ai steps in and hits you and there goes the kick. bourne can't really move fast at all once you enter the fight mode either. he can shuffle very very slowly. but i digress, back to the knife. your strategy then is't really punching when they pull the knife. then you just go into block mode and wait for an opening that occurs when you get a QTE - timed button sequence. in those moments it is always triangle preceeded by the sound of a cymbal. go ahead and try to kick when they have the knife. you may get one in right after a QTE. it is a very broken fight system and anyone willing to accept it doesn't know quality. I honestly think you complain way too much. Do you even know how to enjoy a game? I know, it's your money, and you should expect quality, but if you're playing a game, and actively thinking "ooh, that's not realistic enough" etc., then how on earth can you possibly enjoy yourself in any game? When I play a game, and after a car takes a certain amount of bullets, it caches fire and explodes. Do I then criticise how unrealistic it is? No, because it looks damn cool, and adds to the intensity. Enjoy it, for what it is, not what you think it's trying to be. Plus, deliberately pushing your opinion on to other people to sway their opinion or decision on whether or not to buy this game, is wrong. In my opinion, it is well worth the £3 to rent for a few nights (yes, I rented it, and I liked it). QFT not all games need to be "realistic" if that were the case a couple bullets would kill you and once you die it's totally game over. i do agree about not having the ability to do combos with punch and kick though. after playing the demo it's a rent for me. but it should be a good rent. True. If shooting games had realism one bullet would wound you to the point that you would eventually bleed out and die or the bullet would kill you instantly. There would be no replaying the game because you would be dead. If driving games had realism, you would get into a crash and either die or become seriously injured and your car wrecked. There would be no replaying that game either. Same goes for fighting games. You would need to train as a pilot for flying games too. Realism to a point is a good thing but games have to blend a certain degree of realism with fun. They are called video games not video simulators for a reason.
