ORIGINAL: Dukester101 @ Jack & Pirate: I hear ya both on the "gaming just isn't what it used to be." I myself have lost interest in gaming due in part to many reasons both inside and outside the realm of gaming itself. I think it started with Halo 3 tbh... I was expecting some great revolutionary game, and it really was a big letdown. It's not because of the hype, because I tried to stay away from that, I honestly felt like the game lacked the greatness that Halo 1 and even Halo 2 had. After my Xbox broke, I've been using my time more productively rather than wasting away at games. Not to mention, the quality and caliber of games is not as great as it used to be either. I remember when games had depth, feeling, emotion, character and involvement... it's tough to find that today. This makes me sad. True using your time more wisely is a good thing, but thinking gaming has lost it's flare just doesn't sit with me. I think there are so many great games sitting on my shelf I don't even have time to play it is insane. I think you guys have just grown out of it. Nothing wrong with that, I am sure it hits different people in different ways. I just don't agree that gaming is any less appealing now than it was 20 years ago. I would take what I have on my shelf now as opposed to some of the crap I waded through as a child and thought was immaculate. I know someone will come in and call me out quoting all the classics such as Zelda, Mega Man and the like, but remember we have some of those greats now and a whole lot more! Alas, what you say is true.Games are evolving, but in the vain of Jack and Dukester, it may be our internal interests changing. I certainly don't feel what I used to feel when I play a game now and when I did as a kid. Mind you, I will not be leaving gaming permanently, it has left way too big of a mark on my life for me to just end it after one day. I still want to play through God of War, and race with some people here on Wipeout HD but gone are the days of being hyped for a game, following trailers and previews and paying too much attention to reviews. I don't consider myself getting old at all, I'm only 21, but shooting people in video games is beginning to feel juvenile.Hahaha, funny coming from me considering I just said not too long ago I wanted to participate in the Socom beta. I suppose I'm still feeling very conflicted on this. I shouldn't make any official statements about it anymore, but I'll end it off on this (ironically, a very official statement), it goes beyond the realm of my control that my interest is in fact, waning, but I'll still play the next great game when it comes out rather than hope every game is going to be the next great one. </pointlessly talking about myself since no one is interested :P>
