its just the bystander effect, the more people who see something happen the less likely that anyone will help, becase everyone just assumes that someone else is already doing something

Although, I think you're all overreacting in regards to the severity of her comment. She's just being silly, I'm sure she's not really a bad person.

Actually, it's a little bit of satire. People are just too quick to jump down someone else's throat to show how big their e-penises are.

Also look at some some of the "Memorable Quotes" in there for more proof.

I guess people on here aren't big fans of good, old, cheesy movies. I knew what she was talking about the second she posted. It almost made it more funny how no one else seemed to get it.

Hey, I've never even heard of the movie, but I should have expected as much from SCG, she does things like that quite often, and you're right, not a lot of people get it.
I wouldn't have been offended either way though, I would have just thought it was a little... tasteless

I do think people are overreacting though, as I doubt something like that could really cause you to lose your faith in human society, unless you're just going for dramatic effect.

I am also very proud of my e-penis, no matter how small it is.

Nah, I think a lot of it is the source and that's why people blow up. If someone like Catastrophe or Dukester would have said the same thing, people would be like "Oh noes, LOLZ. HAHAHA!!! Where is that from? Oh, DeathRace 2000? Never heard of it. Sounds funny. I love you."

I know, I know, but people used to really warm to Space Cowgirl. Did she do something bad that I missed? Or did she start to make jokes that went over peoples' heads and make them hate her?

I also noticed there's been an increase in angst on the forums lately. I don't know is it's MGS hype or what, but the forums are getting to be more like the main site...

Point is....we didnt laugh the first time, what makes her thing we're gonna laugh the tenth. At what point was she just doing it to annoy, and not to be funny.

She made a joke....it failed, people told her to stop (because someone getting hit by a car is a touchy subject)....no one said anything bad about her, it was just a failed joke....yet she kept going. Thats when it became offensive.

I have nothing of value to contribute on the subject of Space Cowgirl's jokes, and as far as I can see, no-one else has either, so let's get back on topic, this thread's de-railed enough as it is.

My condolences go to the family of this man, and I really do hope he recovers from it. As for the people doing nothing to help... it's probably just the "bystander effect" as was aforementioned by Odion.
But, there really wasn't much they could do about it anyway, besides call the emergency services.

Apparently from another source someone did help by calling, but thats still kinda sad that most of them just stood and stared.

I only wish the people who did absolutely nothing could be held accountable.

and as for the forums being so bad as the mainsite, after a story i just saw on the maisite and the comments, we dont get alot of the stuff the mainsite gets, and not nearly as much as say the report section in the pending section or comments section. Keep that in mind. But it does seem that peoples attitudes are getting a little edgy.

Yes SCG did do something "bad". First off she called everyone here "losers" and "sheep" and then repeatedly lied about saying it. Look at her disgusting comments here about a man that is paralyzed. Do any of you seriously think it is above her to call everyone a loser and a sheep after what she's said here.

When she gets bored she insults people or mentions the words "porn" or "boobs" to try to get guys all interested. The other day she used the word "cock" in a post. There could be kids posting here but that would be over her head.

You guys want to know why N4G forums are not growing and the same people keep posting and we have few new members? Look no futher than SCG. Of course she realizes that being a female gamer on a mostly male site, she runs the place and she knows it.

People I will say again this is not new its the Bystander Effect

The bystander effect (also known as bystander apathy, Genovese syndrome, diffused responsibility or bystander intervention) is a psychological phenomenon in which someone is less likely to intervene in an emergency situation when other people are present and able to help than when he or she is alone.

An example which shocked many people is the Kitty Genovese case. Kitty Genovese was stabbed to death in 1964 by a serial rapist and murderer. The murder took place over a period of about a half hour, after which it was reported that dozens of alleged "witnesses" failed to help the victim.

You got your internet feelings hurt. This is the internet, these forums are cleaner than others with worse members yet they still have more. You ever been to the Bungie forums, gamefaqs etc? Much worse but have a larger community. Don't try and blame a single person for the forums lesser population, which can be seen as a good thing anyway.

The last part sounds like you're jealous you're not a girl.
