The first one sold 3m and is still selling (launch game)

What cracks me up is that it's a launch title, and it still looks better than the vast majority of games on the market right now. The textures could have used some work, but that aside, it really is a graphically beautiful game.

People don't like to hear this, but in my opinion, Resistance 1 was better than COD4, by a wide margin.

I'm inclined to agree, especially from a graphical perspective. Rendering at 720p with good AA makes everything look really clean. I have a hard time going from Resistance to CoD4 for that reason. It also helps that rumble works in Resistance...>.<

ok well the 3 million sold is also helped hugely by the fact that it was bundled with the system for a long ass time

lol actually it wasn't bundled with the PS3 for that long. The Motorstorm bundle was the major bundle. What helped resistance the most was simply that it was the most obvious game to buy for any PS3 owner.

With it being a holiday release and by the time it releases, PS3 would hopefully be enjoying success from games like Socom, LBP and a couple of other games i don't feel like thinking of right now, optimisticaly the game could sell in the 5million range which would be HUGE for insomniac.

I don't remember Resistance: Fall of Man ever being bundled with the PS3. It was a launch title and PS3 did not have a bundle at launch. Their first bundle was for MotorStorm.

Of course, I am speaking from a US standpoint, maybe it was bundled in other regions?

As to the original topic, I think Resistance should end at 3. There needs to be a linear-story for the end of the Chimera. Maybe you can do a prequel of some sorts as to their origins (since it is not technically known if it is alien or man-made) but that should be it. The longer it goes on unnecessarily, the more it takes away from the memory of the original.

agreed
resistance had it all

Great story
great weapons
greatmultiplay
and very good graphics

overall resistance is amazing, but Resistance 2 will kill it in everyway.

Cod4 had great graphics (but i thought the people looked bad)
all weapons were pretty much 1 hit kill- dont like
story sucked( i hated sitting in the car for that long in the begining)
online is so-so

Well man gues what! I agree with you. The two player campaign is the best.

I really want some RPG elements like in R&C.

I'd like a Resistance MMO as well.

since it only took two years to make a sequel do you think that they will stop at three?
i dont

and i think it would be sweet if hale started to get powers of the chimera like spead of the greys, the jump of the ones with the reapers, and you could up grade them. but that is just an idea.

and i think it would be cool if resistance was taken to africa and asia. just think of fighting on a baracaded version of the Great wall or the pyramids, and maybe there was a new chimera that would be huge that could come out of the sand and eat people.  just some ideas...

what do you think would be cool?

nice ideas

I think Hale will get a nectar like gimmick that powers you up for a bit- like the sort of thing you got if you played as the chimera in MP

or perhaps he becomes the uber-baddy in some weird, precitable plot twist

ultimately, they'll do a Killzone on us and take us to the Chimera's home planet- now that will be awesome

Insomniac are in a good position to do alot with the plot and I really hope they don't **** it up like Bungie did Halo with the cliffhangers and all that

That Would Be Awesome!

When you really think about it, Insomniac did an amazing job with the first Resistance. They managed, to build up a solid engine for the Playstation 3, create a whole new IP, create a decent length story, allow for splitscreen play and overall create a solid shooter with creative weapons which all runs at a solid 30fps.
Then on top of all that, there was a SOLID 40 player online section.
Then to top all that off, they manage to get it out as a launch title.

To me, that is one hell of an achievment.

As for Resistance being any more than a trilogy, I highly doubt it. I do believe on the other hand though, that Insomniac will however create a new shooter game after this.

I am hoping for some great cinematics this time around, they were what seemed possibly the most rushed to me, but hey, it was a launch title and they still managed a hell of a lot. I hope they've played plenty of Metal Gear solid, 'cause I wan't to see some cracking cinematics.
