Just a few months ago I though Killzone 2 was going to be the best thing since sliced bread. However the recent wave of previews have been meh, at best, and have really killed most the hype I had for this game. PLAY: "Much of what Sony has released so far looks like standard FPS fare, in spite of a think coat of polish" "Some of the gameplay footage we've seen looking very clichéd, resembling just about every FPS released in recent years - A warehouse, for example isn't the most thrilling venue for a shoot-out. Enclosed spaces like this are a particular worry, since Killzone's bland colour palette prevents them from having any impact" EDGE: "from this demo there's very little that this game attempts that Call of Duty 4 hasn't already achieved with significant success" "the game takes no risks, neither in design or tone. The explosive barrels, the crate-filled warehouse, the vision blur as damage is incurred, scripted sequences of Helghast fast-roping through roof-lights, the lights that blow out when shot out at, the brightly coloured wireframe boxes that show the locations of mission objectives; they're all proven pieces of FPS and 3D world design, and taken together in context of this much-vaunted game, it's hard not to come away feeling that Killzone 2 is short on ideas that it can call its own" OPM: "Killzone looks a-ma-zing. Nothing else on the PS3 comes close - assuming you like grey, because this is a rhapsody in grimy gun metal" PSM3 "Mixed news for Sony's great gray hope" "Killzone 2 feels solid, but we'd like to see more inspired environments. As yet, this is no CoD4-beater, and enemies still take too long to kill"
