efaustus I do have a mouse and keyboard I actually installed it after following you instructions but when it first goes to boot to linux after setting it as your main os it gives me no video and then the ps3 eventually blinks red. I will attempt to burn the iso file again tomarrow Im thinking it was just a bad burn. Efaustus thanks for the continued help and muzzle thanks for the great links.

Just for my edification did you...

  burn the iso as an image not a data dvd?
  install the boot loader in the xmb before switching to otheros?

and are you using an HDTV and a HDMI cable with your ps3?

for more complete instillation instructions see the official terrosoft YDL guide;

Im using a hdmi cable on my ps3.

1. I did burn it as a image used nero to burn the image into the dvd.
2. I quick formated the hd and set the 10 gb for other os.
3. Installed the linux a quick in game os screen said I installed it and then I restarted into a blank screen.

Im going to burn the iso image again something is telling me I did not burn the image right.

alright thanks. What you installed in the xmb was "otheros.bld" which is a boot loader. The bootloader will permit you to boot from the dvd when you change the default os. It is from that dvd you will install linux. As for the image burning try buring at a lower speed on your second attempt. Otherwise once you install otheros and change default you should see the following;

Finally got it working. Im writing this message from linux. I have gotten the ds 3 to work. Installing snes9x is proving to be a bit difficult. I downloaded snes9x 1.51 and Im not sure how to install it. :P port audio install failed also.

can you give a little more information. what kind of notifications or error prompts are you getting when trying to install? Also when you installed yellow dog did you remember to click to install "Software Development" packages. That may be the source of your problem. Before bilb (from yellow dog board's) made the handy rpm's the process for installing snes9x was more involved even more so if you didn't install the software development packages when given the option.

I guess you fixed it your self congrats. To get a smooth frame rate as seen in my videos be sure to activate multithreading support in the snes9x emulator options.
