ORIGINAL: - The Corrupt - Surprisingly, he isn't feeling nostalgia there. You all think that we've never had it this good 'cause you simply concentrate on all the things that actually make games appear lame to people like him. I mean, I really miss playing games that never even needed to hit 60fps in order to make you go "wow". A Link to the Past is one such game. I challenge anyone to point out a game as amazing as that one, without resorting to graphics or features that they have. Where are the great storylines, the unmissable characters and that feeling you get that makes you feel like you're on top of the world? Super Mario 64 had magic... It pulled you in, gave you a load of magic mushrooms and made you the happiest person on the planet. And we all know it didn't need 16-player online modes or 3D texture mapping to do it. The only game out there that I've played recently that would fall under that category is Metal Gear Solid 4. If they released the same game on a PSOne engine, removing the online modes, it'd still be as amazing as it is now. But other than that, it seems like everything is drifting away from what makes a game a game, and into the realms of how good the game can look, or how many features they can fit onto one disc... Some developers just need to return to their roots once in a while, I think... That pretty much sums up my thoughts. Games these days are all about graphics, all about how many pixels the game has, how big the girls tits are, the engine of the game... all that bullcrap. Back in the day it wasn't quite so much like that. I remember it was more like "Omg! I got Mario 64 yesterday! AWESOME GAME!" their friend says "Ahh man I want to play that so bad! Too bad I don't have a 64!" Or vice versa with say... FFVII or MGS1. Nowadays it's like "OMG I GOT HALO 3 YESTERDAY!" their friend says "OMG HALO 3 SUCKS 640P HAHALOL!" [insert massive fanboy argument] Or something like that, or put in MGS4 or Killzone or something. It's one of those "My penis is bigger" kinda deals. Games, have changed.
