If I even rub my finger over the outside of the vents, some pretty serious dustballs come of that thing. I can just imagine what's inside. Whenever I open my PC tower it's a bloody jungle in there. My PS3 spent around 6 months in a house with a pug and a long hair cat so I suspect a good vaccuming would work wonders. Unfortunately I don't have a vaccum.

My PC has mountains of dust and dog hair inside, and it runs fine (has been for many years). My PS3 gets cleaned out way more, I even did the vacuuming out of sheer paranoia, to no avail.

You will notice no difference if you vacuum.

My PS3 is dust heaven. I checked this little place thing that I never open (it's like a little pocked) and it was full of little dust balls. That thing was closed so tight and dust still got in..... wow.

Unless a solid dust wall is blocking your vent it shouldn't cause significant problems.

I have no weird dust problems because of my frequent obsessive cleaning, and I still have the fan speed issues and whatever on virtually all newer titles.

It would be cool if you could check the temp. of your PS3 when you pressed the PS button.

Click on one of the mods or admins names. Id say Catastrophe would be the best.

Once you do that you should see their page. Then on the top right it should say "send pm" ....which is a personal message.

Tell them whats going on and link them to this thread.

Hopefully thatll help take this guy off the forums

Hi Markus,
I have EXACTLY the same problem. It started 3 weeks ago. Since that, my PS3 after 5 - 10 minutes changes to hoover, never mind if watching movies on DVD or BD, playing games from hard drive or BD. Never mind the temperature in the room ! It starts also if about 18°C arround.
I´m going crazy. Fan rotates nearly on the top speed, similar to the "fan test"
Any watching movies or playing games impossible.
I´m from central Europe, quite normal summer temperatures arround 26 - 28°C when problems started but didn´t stop till now.
