theres a good list of games a new ps3 owner should enjoy,
uncharted metal gear solid 4 resistance, grid, battlefield, soul caliber 4 (when it comes out) heavenly sword warhawk etc, the list can keep going but im sure you dont have a few hundred bucks to buy them all, enjoy your ps3

Good choice. Also I feel like an idiot now that I left it off my list. I completely forgot about it.

I actually disliked Uncharted, the game was gorgeous but really the mechanics were just tooo weird for me.

In the order at which they pop into my head, I consider these to be the games you can't be without:
  • Uncharted - one of the best looking games on the planet.
  • Metal Gear Solid 4 - how could you miss out on such an iconic game?
  • Devil May Cry 4 - the single best game I've played in a long time (2005, to be precise).
  • Call of Duty 4 - Can't get much better than this online!
  • Resistance - Well worth getting, if you like FPSs.
  • Heavenly Sword - Perfect warm up for God of War 3!

They have all been chosen 'cause they're among the best games I've played in a long time.

yeah, but MGS4 is right up there. The actual game mechanics are surperior to anything else this gen, but for me, it lost points for the story and the whole "vibe" (if that makes sense) Then again, I'm one of the few that never played any previous Metal Gears, so I wouldn't consider myself a fan.

You really should try them out. That's why I picked up the Essential Collection and played through the first 3 before I even fired up MGS4. It made me appreciate it so much more.

yeah, my buddy did the same. I still may do it one day so I can finally put all the pieces together. I just find it so hard gaming on my PS2 now that I've completly spoiled myself with HDTV's and next gen graphics and gameplay.

Very true. Especially when I popped in MGS1 to play. That game has not aged well at all. The graphics are terrible. But that's the thing. The longer you play it the more you adapt to it and look past the graphics. The storyline just pulls you in and you begin to not care about the graphics at all.

I've been an MGS fan since 2001, with Sons of Liberty. Since then I've played everything minus Portable Ops, which I read about and that was that.

So my praising of MGS4 is definitely biased, I admit.
