Well, professional sports and drama aren't really the same in terms of cultural significance, but yes, it goes for actors as well.

Agreed, but there are actors out there that can perform on par, if not better than the best in Hollywood... that are only doing broadway and plays making fairly normal pay because they haven't been discovered yet.

It's a shame that these people are making so much, yet our troops are making so little.

I'm not saying it's right, but I have no problem with athletes being paid insanely large sums of money. They take what is offered to them; I love baseball and football (american), and I enjoy going to watch them play, buying jerseys, etc. Everything costs money, and it's basic economics; there is a supply and a demand. But a good athlete is the rarest thing in sport, and is paid as such. I'm not saying it's right, but I don't mind them getting money.. it's the way the world works

Plus, baseball is the best paid. Their money is guaranteed.

What about Models, they get paid alot just to try on new clothles, makeup etc and walk up the catwalk. Is it really that hard to do and do they deserve the money?

Hell I would love to see them working on a building site for a day or working in a supermarket for a day just so they can see what its like to actually do some work for once and not get paid hefty amounts of money.

What sort of toll does it take on the mind, sure the body but come on they are getting paid way too much. I've played footbal since I was 5 up until a few months ago and I loved it but I gave up due to having braces and because my manager was a prick, personally people who work on building sites or do labour intensive jobs should be paid all this money instead of these sports players.

All athletes are overpaid. It never made sense to me as to why someone should get paid a ridiculously amount of money for playing any sport. It doesn't even contribute anything the country as a whole.
