I own both two, and I prefer PSP more.
Because DS games are ****in low-quality or made for kids.

I have the PSP. The DS might have the advantage when it comes to quality exclusives, so for gaming ---->DS is probably the better choice (not by far though). However, as an overall entertainment product, the PSP is far superior even without homebrew.

I own two of each, I recommend the DS (lite)

if you do deside to get a PSP get an original one not a slim and lite, they are really cheap and tacky. if mine wasn't a final fantasy one I would have taken it back and got a refund.

I have both. but.....

DS > PSP

DS has way more games.

Well. Quality (also meaning much better graphics) over quantity if you ask me.

My 4 year old WinMob 2003 SE phone is more powerfull then the DS. The graphics hurt my eyes...

I have 2 PSP's one Fat and one Slim both ceramic white. Both on Custom Firmware for homebrew.
Homebrew (NES, SNES, N64, Sega Megadrive emu's etc.!) + these games:

God of War
Final Fantasy CC
Fifa 08/PES 08
Tekken
Loco Roco
Patapon
Echochrome

not to forget upcoming: Loco Roco 2, Patapon 2, Resistance

Alone make it better then the DS for me. I own the GPS addon/GO!Explore and cam also, both great to use. And since I saw Nintendo's last E3 I hope they die. They hurt my brain to the max with that parade of retards

Who gives a crap about graphics, if you want pretty graphics watch an animated film , games are about gameplay.

DS is better because the games are quality, PSP is full of rubbish and a few games you will play once, DS has a lot of crap as well but it also has alot more good stuff then PSP does and many of those titles are ones you will play over and over agian.

Nonsense. Its a combination of gameplay and good graphics. If it were only gameplay, we were still playing on a MSX-1 or ZX-Spectrum. There is always an upgrade over time. Yes there are still some games from NES/SNES etc. I want to play but I also want to see a great looking game. 'Watch an animated film'... Aha thats also why the 360 and PS3 have gone up in graphics? Thats why PC gaming is looking better and better every year?

Plus, don't forget with the emulators on the PSP one can play MSX, Commodore (64, Amiga etc), NES, SNES, N64, Sega Megadrive/Genesis etc etc all the good old games with less graphics but good gameplay. So the library of games is large also.

PSP just has a smaller amount of games, but a lot of good games. DS has a lot of games and a lot of rubbish. I've played on a DS of my sisters kids. The only reason so many buy it is because of that stupid gimmick, the touche screen. It has been worked out terrible in a lot of games. But the kids just see it as a plus. Just as the Wii. Thats even worse, only 5 games to really like, and a lot, a lot of mindless bad minigames. It just sells over the hype of Wiimote...

Actually the only thing Nintendo really floates on is a different controlling method and their 1st party franchises: Mario, Zelda etc.

DS/Wii is for 5 year olds/little kids, elderly (Brain Age woohoooo) and retards. Nintendo sells last last gen hardware for the price of next gen, people get facked over and after 2 months certainly the Wii is catching a lot of dust.

At the moment combination at my home = 360 + 2 x PSP and old XBOX lined up. I have stored a lot, a lot of old consoles and homecomputers. I liked the games back then, sometimes still funny to fire one up, but the graphics now hurt my eyes. I want to see improvement over the years. Like Bill Gates wasn't right about 640kb memory would be enough, its a myth that good gaming only needs good gameplay. Its a first condition, but after that the graphics, sound etc. are just as important

I actually agree wholeheartedly with what he said.

PSP covers many different dimensions of gaming.  I can enjoy the current solid lineup of games available on the handheld and go generations back.  Playing Snatcher on my PSP was great fun for me.  Not to mention it's multimedia functions are quite impressive.  Nintendo DS has too many gimmick games for my tastes really.  The only great game for me is Phoenix Wright.  Just like the Wii, it's too casual of a handheld for me.

Heh... Yup! The DS has always been better. More games, and most of them are pretty unique. But that's not to say the PSP isn't really good, though, 'cause it has some amazing games on it. Jeanne D'Arc has to be one of the best games I've ever played.

*points to TheMART* OBJECTION!  The DS is not for five year olds. I'm insulted that you would even insinuate such crap. The DS has a large fanbase and is an even larger platform for RPGs, strategy games and games that hark back to the old point 'n' click adventures (I'm particularly looking at Another Code and Hotel Dusk). So just because you seem to think adults only play games that involve a lot of bloody violence, don't go assuming that everyone else bases their games on the same thing.

Well let me say this: overhere in the Netherlands its mostly young kids that play the DS. Friends I have that had the DS sold it and have a PSP now. I really know very, very few people above 14 years of age that own the DS. Not saying there are some RPG's etc. that are great. BUT the hardware is bad. Just a quick comparison:

DS

"
  • CPU: ARM946E-S 67MHz (belangrijkste) + ARM7TDMI 33MHz (sub software voor compatibiliteit met de Game Boy ook gebruikt)
  • Memory: 4 MB
  • VRAM: 656KB
  • Display: 2-inch (diagonaal) met een semi-overbrengend reflecterende kleuren TFT LCD achtergrondverlichting × 2
  • Resolutie: 256 × 192,26 miljoen kleuren "

Dude... My 3 to 4 year old mobile phone is more powerfull! It has a 400Mhz ARM CPU. The graphics really hurt my eyes

PSP is just a PS2 in a handheld. I am not saying there has to be blood in every game. But I do think that besides gameplay there need to be some evolution in graphics. Nintendo's hardware is just selling old stuff for a premium price. Asking 150 Euro's for the DS and 250 Euro for the Wii in my eyes is a crime. Looking to the future, I really can't see how anyone would be happy with those graphics for the coming years even...

I have both, but as others have mentioned, the homebrew for PSP makes the library of games you can play on it huge.  That's why I prefer the PSP.

I have a Slim PSP, rarely use it though because I play on consoles or on the PC. Still I got it for free with Wipeout as well and then I bought Killzone Liberation.

Like a lot of people have said, the graphics available on the DS aren't everything. Who cares if it can't render each and every one of Link's hairs? The games are awesome, and the console benefits from the vast variety of games on offer. If I want to play something that looks amazing, I'll turn on my PS3 or 360. I play handhelds because either I need to pass some time or I simply want something that is easy and quick to pick up and play. I have no interest in games that take forever to load up (which some PSP games do) or have the constant whirring of the disc (like the PSP does). I don't even care if it looks worse than most N64 games. As long as the game is good, who cares what it looks like?

I'm certain people would still play games like MGS4, GOW2 and DMC4 even if they were released on the SNES...
