bama, one game does not make a console.

What else did the N64 have? Mario? Zelda?

I have to answer it, even though i said i wouldn't. This is just to stupid to not answer. I also own many great multiplatform and other exclusive games but these are just the ones I can find now.

Exclusives I own for my N64:

Sin and Punishment
Paper Mario
Super Mario 64
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
GoldenEye 007

Wave Race 64
Jet Force Gemini
Mario Kart 64
1080 Snowboarding
Mario Golf
Blast Corps
Excitebike 64
Perfect Dark
WWF Wrestlemania 2000
Super Smash Brothers
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Toiee
Conker's Bad Fur day
Animal Forest
Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask

I bolded the ones I care about. Nice try. That's why I stuck with Sony. Should I list the great PSX exclusives I have and played?

Bama bama bama...
(fun so say, harder to type)

Comparing exlusives at this point (and to whoever thought that was a good idea) is pointless. You can't compare an exhaustive list for a system that ran it's life cycle to a system that is barely 2 years old. Of course the PS3 won't hold up. Wait until we're talking about the PS5 and then re-visit that conversation.

Plus, everything was better in the days of our youth. That's just human nature.

But, as much as you think you can poke holes in my argument, I can do the same just as easily to yours. MGS4... by all accounts a good game. Not sure where you get your numbers, but that's beside the point really. Whatever number you mention, you mention as in past tense. Like it's not going to sell any more than it has. You're using incomplete data to justify a faulty argument. I won't start picking at those holes because there are just too many.

I could honestly see the Dreamcast comparison easier than the N64, sadly enough. A machine ahead of its time that probably isn't appreciated as much as it should be. I'm not PS3 fanboy. I know the issues the system has. I just also know it's served what I bought it for. And I haven't had to have it fixed 3 times. (Ahem)

The N64 WAS a good machine. I never had it. I was a Sega guy. But, I'm just not buying your comparison between the two systems. The industry climate is so different from then, it's scary. There will always be parallels, but I just don't see how you think support for the PS3 has decreased. It started out poor, but has picked up incredibly.

Good job sir, I completely agree with you (except the Dreamcast compare... Maybe a bit too far).

Well different strokes for different folks. You should really play Conker though, its awesome. All of the games I listed sold well though so I guess allot of people agreed with me.

Only thing I agree with here is that the Dreamcast was ahead of its time. I am by no means calling PS3 a bad system I'm simply saying the facts. You can't argue that PS3 will win the console wars and dominate software charts with a straight face, you just can't. It'll sell in terms with N64 and thats not bad at all, it was a decent second place system and there is nothing wrong with that. However let me explain myself better.

The parallels I see with the N64 are as follows:

1. Bragged about graphical power. Nintendo showcased Silicon Graphics as a huge thing, Sony is demonstrating Cell as a huge thing
2. Both Nintendo and Sony were believed to be the winners in the beginning so at first most titles were planned to go to N64 and PS3
3. Final Fantasy was not exclusive to the other systems and the fanboys went nuts, if you read the quotes I posted you can see that it is the exact same thing.
4. First Party offerings were the reason to buy N64, they are becoming the reason to buy a PS3. People hyped Mario, Banjo, Conker, and Zelda just like people hype Little Big Planet, GT5, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and the like. The only difference is that Nintendo's 1st party offerings were cartoony
5. Every analyst proclaimed that N64 would beat PS1 even though sales continued to show otherwise

I thought these comparisons were pretty obvious. I guess for some they aren't. Mitchell I am by no means attacking Sony, stop being so defensive.

This is fun. :)

Please, in every word I typed, highlight where I said this. Or anything resembling this. Or anything in the same continent as this.

This was never part of my argument, b/c for me, it's all irrelevant. Who wins? Who loses? What's it matter when score is being kept by as many ways as there are people??? The PS2 was the clear-cut winner of the last generation, mainly b/c there was no debating. Nintendo was down. Microsoft was new. It was never even close. Given the fact that PS2s are still selling like hotcakes just fortifies a dead argument and, frankly, has allowed the PS3 to grow into something many thought it would begin as.

I'm not going to go point-by-point. As you can see I ramble and I could talk longer than I'd want about your 'points'. But, I just find it odd that FF13 keeps getting brought into this like it's some sort of cataclysmic event. It kinda sucks to me, only b/c I AM a Sony guy (don't mistake that w/ fanboy), but more power to MS. Now they have access to the defining RPG brand and will finally understand what it's like to lose a third of your life trying to level up so you can get the Firaga spell.

It's a good series, but it's still coming to the PS3 people. Don't lose your lunch over this. All it means is now fanboys can argue over which console looks better for yet ANOTHER game. But, I hardly see where the game honestly fits into any kind of argument as to what kind of support the PS3 is getting. It's not like Square is Bungie, pulling away from MS. They are a 3rd party developer looking to release to the largest audience possible. I'm not a business guy, but even I could tell you it makes financial sense to release to a larger install base too.

For the record, I think I understand your tone and intent of what you're saying. I know you're not bashing Sony or going on some idealistic rant. I just think you're wrong. :)
