im asking if you think sony has a line up or a PLAN for what to do when its announced to keep playstation fans equaly as hyped

I have no idea what Sony can do, but you can be sure they are just dying to have a piece of the Halo series.

And we've all answered that without using insults no? If you're a Halo fan you're going to be hyped for it no matter what. If you're not and you only have a PS3 chances are Halo 4's announcement won't mean **** to you unless it's unbelievably mindblowing (hah).

Isn't that what Sony does usually? They show some games very early and let the hype train goes locco. Look at Killzone 2.
It came to the point that the hype got out of hand and they had to hide it for a while. Same thing for Home. It's the same thing
for most of their franchises: inFamous,Resistance 2,God Of War 3,LittleBigPlanet,White Knight Chronicles etc etc. The sheer quantity makes up for them.

What I heard though was that MS also prepared a long term plan for the 360 and planned to sell one billion of those. Of course,that was PR stuff,but they still have that 1100 page book I think.

Status: offline 		There is no need to counter halo.halo's fan=xbox fans and they already own one for halo 3.halo 4 has zero affect on PS3 caz halo 3 did whatever was possible for halo franchise to do,so no need to counter,though.

Status: offline 		Whats with this idea that Halo is an almighy game that every other game needs to beat? Its just a generic FPS. The only reason its notable is because of the insane fanbase that drives the sales but other then that it does nothing different from any other shooter.

Status: offline 		Not one game could counter HALO 4 sales wise....... but HALO 4 nor any other 360 game can counter SONY's avalanche of exclusives games and/or prevent being outsold worldwide by a large margin, in the future.

However some games can beat halo in fun gameplay graphics etc.

Team ico project
Resistance 2
Heavy rain
Killzone 2

in sales i think only Gran turismo 5 and MULTIFANTASY 13 can beat it

lets be honest halo 3 was $hit an everybody knows
i think that dissapoinment its going to afect the halo 4 sales

just facepalm at some of these replies. I don't know if some of you people are serious or not but off the top of my head I can name 40 to 160 games that pushed gaming ahead further along than Halo did.

I still don't know what caliber it is you people speak of?

Even if Halo 4 came to PS3, I'm pretty sure no one would care and it would sell tons on 360 and 0 copies on PS3. If you like the series, chances are you own a 360.

It's a broad appeal game that's easy to play, and brings futuristic science fiction and action first person shooters cohesively. (as if that's never been done before and better, ahem Half-Life).

I guess it's just because I'm an old school PC Gamer and had crap like in-game recording and demos, map editors, and all that other crap you're paying yearly for free back in 1996 when I bought Quake 3 arena.

*Cue newbies who started gaming with the X-Box to start bashing me :\

Now that that's settled: What can Sony do to counter Halo?

By not releasing any bloody more shooters. I have my PS3 complimentary to my gaming PC to get an experience my PC cannot give me. Games that Team ICO makes or God of War not being on the 360 is more than enough reason for me not to care about owning one considering I have a library of hundreds of shooters already.

My point boils down to, Sony shouldn't have to care about Halo. So it sells like 8 million copies, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games sold 10 million copies, I guess that means it MUST be better than Halo right?

Halo 3 (Or any of its other iterations) were certainly not ****.

They had a great memorable soundtrack, clean visuals, a simple clear storyline, cohesion between gameplay, narrative, and story, and gameplay mechanics that worked.

I just don't think it's pedestal worthy because most developers that actually love and care about their games (Insomniac, id, Valve, Bungie, Epic, are just a few to name) will usually incorporate all that. Halo is just an unexplainable phenomenon of popularity considering all it's "unique" features have existed more over 10 years now.

Sony does not have an IP as strong as the halo franchise.

However - unless it has killzone-calibre graphics, a new Halo would not move that much hardware either....

It's called GRAN TURISMO. By "caliber" I hope you mean sales. Sony have a few games that can easily surpassed Halo in terms of quality.
