it's possible that compression could hinder graphics.

Not necessarily. It depends on how developers utilize all that space on the Bluray disc. It also depends how the programmers do the code to show off good graphics despite compression issues.

Also, it is possible that with all that space on the Bluray, we can get better graphics. Its possible but from what I'm seeing, no developer (yet) has maximized the use of all that space just for Graphics.

I would say MGS4 has done that. I don't know about uncompressed textures, but there are certainly more textures than any other game I've seen.

If you're utilizing their maximum storage optential, you can't make a game on a CD look as good as a game on a DVD. Compression of textures, audio, and video will all degrade the experience. No amount of RAM, CPU, or GPU power will change this. However, using multiple CDs would negate the storage issue. This was true of the last format generation, and it is true of this format generation.

For Blu-ray to really have an impact on the graphical quality of games, the game in question would need to use a tremendous amount of space. That just doesn't seem to be happening this generation. Even if it did, the format wouldn't really matter, because you could simply use multiple disks to counter the storage issue.
