The man is not going to be killed. This isn't Texas.

And I've taken note of the lack of caring. This is absolutely insane for something like this to have happened in Canada. This is something that only seems to happen once every like 5 years.

Just because it's a monthly occurrence in America doesn't give you the right to be little this or any other tragedy.

A lot of bad **** happens but when I heard this one yesterday I was truly saddened. No one helped? REALLY!? All you need are your shoes and you have effective weapons right there, take those bastards off and aim at his face, he'll drop the knife soon enough, and without it his lethality drops considerably especially after being hit in the face by a dozen shoes.

And no, this isn't me trying to sound like a badass on the internet, it's how I was brought up and I've seen my dad disarm a man with a knife using only a vest he was wearing and my dad was unarmed at the time. He always said if anything happens and I have the chance, grab anything I can and aim for their face (eyes if I can).

I was actually hoping they'd say the dude wasn't Canadian so he'd get extradited and executed, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen.

It kinda pissed me off how the news channels kept calling the passengers the true hero's...they kept repeating it..like wth, there was a guy who was getting stabbed..i think everyone in the bus shud have gotten their cellphones or shoes and threw it at him at once...and the men of the bus start whipping the metal part of the belt at him.

Well true it's more expensive to keep a man locked up but he'll feel no real punishment for his crimes.  I think one would feel the real horrors of their crimes by sitting in isolation for some 25+ years.  Now that's a toll most people cannot take where hitting them over the head with a brick sounds good and is cheaper still doesn't do anything other than kill another person.

What's with all the Canadians calling for the death penalty? Yikes guys. We're not Texans. I know you're all pissed now, but think about our national identity.

*sigh* hell bent maniacs without medication....

I don't know any of Canada's laws...but this person needs to be put down.

No one is going to be put down.

And a quote like this:
"He calmly walks up to the front [of the bus] with the head in his hand and the knife and just calmly stares at us and drops the head right in front of us," Mr Caton said.

Suggest something could be wrong with the guy. We know so little about the murder, but people are already calling for the attacker's death? Us developed countries don't practice capital punishment.

And regarding why the people didn't help...I think they did all that they could. Everyone on the bus (including the victim) was sleeping, I'm sure the guy could have stabbed him a good 5-6 times without anyone noticing. And it sounds to me like this must have happened towards the back of the bus. 3-4 people may have saw what happened..all it takes is one to yell 'run' and everyone will..most of the bus had no idea what was going on.

The driver who disabled the bus was the true hero though, can you imagine what a man willing to behead someone would do with a speeding bus?

I'm also surprised this story made international headlines.

just because he did something crazy, doesn't mean he is crazy.  I think if the guy is just someone who snapped, he should be "put down".  He's obviously a very dangerous person who has acted in the worst of ways.

How does someone stab another person upto 50 times without other people getting involved?  Yes, i know he has a knife, but come one.. 3 or 4 guys could take him easily without getting stabbed.  There would be too many people to try to stab.

What the flying $^&# !!! thats wrong. And i agree with Jwooly, a bus full of people sat and watched. some can't make a call to the police in the time it takes 60 stabs to be administered and a life to be lost ?

"Brutal..." Nathan Explosion

umm that is just very disturbing, and surprising. Usually something like this never happens in Canada. Hopefully this guy gets a life sentence (which in Canada is 25 years sadly.)

From another article I read, one of the witnesses said that the expression on the killer's face was that of a person enjoying a day on the beach.  It's almost as if the killer was in another world/reality and was not completely aware of what he was doing.

Nanomachines,or maybe Psychokinesis?

When people do unspeakable acts of evil I sometimes wonder if they we're being demonically influenced in some way.

Anyways, this man deserves capital punishment, even though Canada is probably not too keen on that sort of thing. Capital punishment in my mind is justice because you are taking away a person's privilege to live because they themselves took away another person's right to be alive. When a life is taken away unjustly it's only logical to rid the murderer of their life as well in order to permanently keep him from doing harm to someone else again and for him to longer drain society of valuable resources such as food, water, clothing, shelter, and medicine.
