Nothing optional will unify a service.  Home will be cool and will have fun features but in my opinion it won't be the factor that'll make PSN greater than Live.

I really don't know but home will at least try to make psn more social. I personally hope it does and the fact that is free is also a huge plus

My worry is that Home will be little more than a novelty, something I will use briefly when it first comes out, somewhere where I might wonder around a new game area before going back to actually playing games.

I actually don't see myself doing much roaming and all after like the first week. But the game specific home spaces are interesting to me since they are handled by 3rd parties providing the opportunity for some unique stuff. Its also provides the ps3 with lobbies and stuff. Home also has cross game invites so it adds more features to the psn and closes the gap a little bit more.

Probably, but what worries me is whether Home will be integrated to the PSN network or be a completely separate service. Will I be able to invite a friend outside the service and whether it will unify PSN somewhat? I don't know, but all we can do is pray. I'm still on the fence deciding whether to purchase a PS3 or not. I really like the system overall, but it seems like online is were it's very weak and doesn't meet my demands (what we are discussing).

I think home will hurt the ps3s online functionality. It will make it even less user friendly and less intuative. It will also make psn even less intergrated as home will be another program that you launch not an intergrated program.

The question is when is it coming out lol.

Anyways i really dont mind psn and its improving, the only thing that annoys me is the NAT setting can change(mostly annoying for me when im wireless) and then you can't join chat rooms. There are some people on my list that i can never get in a chat room.

I dunno personally i find the XMB more user friendly than live blades and more intuitive. It takes a longer time to master microsoft blades but it has a lot more stuff you can do.

I don't think you meant to say home will hurt ps3 online functionality since it will enable the ps3 to do more thus increasing function. But if it isn't user friendly it could make it complicated. Not everyone has the patience to load out as avatars and all that

Do you guys think Home ,if we will ever see it, will help the PSN to triumph XBL and will it unify the service?

i think HOME is a good idea, but to be honest when i normally turn on my PS3 or Xbox 360 its to game and i mean as in proper games like Gears of War or Warhawk etc if i wanted to just walk around talking then i would go on World of Warcraft and still be able to game properly i will try HOME and try to make a good place  but to be honest i see it as just being there

You might have a point there; I can also see it making joining games with your friends and chatting, an unnecessarily complicated experience. I'm surprised more people don't consider this.

If you saw my previous post, I mentioned a similar thing, If Home is a separate service, inviting people outside the service will probably be very complicated as you mentioned. Sony also mentioned awhile ago that everything that is possible in Home can be accessed through the XMB.

Currently, the only important features that XBL has over PSN to me is

Cross game voice chat

and

Mandatory Achievements

Anything else most people don't use, all of my friends have an X360 and they use those 2 features most, the other ones that you guys mention aren't nearly as important. If PSN gets that, than as far as I'm concerned, they are equal.

The other big reason i used xbl alot is since alot of my friends used it. Some dont now but it was how i kept in contact with some firends in college or people i know locally.

But a lot of them don't really play videogames much anymore since they graduated and are looking for jobs and stuff lol.

So now i have more people on psn to play with lol. I only know a few people with ps3s, most of my list consists of n4g members lol

What i just said isnt really a pro or con with psn or xbl, becasue it depends on what most of your friends use.

My favorite part about home is that you can go to a game like Warhawk, end it after 2 or 3 matches, and then meet up in Home to talk about how it went, or what you want to do next. It seems like that will be something i use very often with my friends.

Now that I think of it, I don't need cross game invites when I can just meet up with my friends in Home and decide from there :P I know that not everyone will like / want that, but it def. appeals to me.

Sorry, I never saw your post, apologies. Yes, you are correct. I hope you're right in that the features will be accessible from the XMB, that'd be a big relief. Home just needs to be as optional as possible, Sony have to realise that not everyone needs it's potential complications.

PSN has Home (if it ever comes)

Psn is free.

Achievements are mostly easy trophies give you a challenge.

Psn has better Games on store it's quality not quantity

well for M$ XBL's sake it IS piggybacking on M$ Office Network so its no real surprise that it works the way it dose.

And for SONY's PSN its doing pretty dang good for NOT being on a unified world wide tested debugged to hell and back with office/excel/word Royalties Network.

back in the 90''s.....ugg... i used to know a guy how did all my PC fixing till i went Mac, he was GOOD at what he did and he actually NO BULL help set up a MS network something to do with US/CND/EU server thing and Man he said it was pretty hefty.

but as or what i think i like PSN everthing i need and i have~ and free to boot.

are we talking about specs, or everything?  Because I feel XBL has more features than the PSN, but they charge to play online; which i feel should be stopped considering they advertise.  I feel the PSN offers a more diverse selection of games; there are old games, and there are new games.  Developers seem to like developing for the PSN because they have no restrictions.  All in all, it's all about preference; but not having to pay for online play, and having diverse games (which i consider better), i'd go with PSN.  I'm willing to sacrifice not knowing what level my friend is in a game or talking to them while i'm in a different game (that would just annoy me)
