I don't give a damn about the console wars, this guy needs to know whether the purchase is worth the money to him so I'm going to talk openly and frankly. The simple fact is that it is worth more to some people and less to others. At the moment it still costs a significant amount of money, so it's always best to hesitate and assess for yourself. You first of all have to ask yourself whether you play games enough to justify the cost of both consoles. Have you played all the top PS3 games? MGS4? COD4? Ratchet and Clank? Uncharted? The Orange Box? If you have played all of those then you probably will get your money's worth out of the 360's exclusives. Otherwise your money would probably be better spent on the games available to you now. Secondly, do you like multiplayer more or singleplayer more? Simple enough. You might not have much preferance but some people have a strong opinion on the matter. Generally speaking, I'd say that 360 is better for multiplayer gaming while PS3 is better for singleplayer. For example, Uncharted is a much better singleplayer experience than Gears of War, but it doesn't have any multiplayer, while Gears has both co-op and arcade multiplayer. Xbox Live is very well integrated into every game, with things like achievements promoting a great atmosphere for gaming with your friends, which brings me to my third point of interest. Do your friends have 360s? This one matters less, because you might just enjoy having 3 mates round to play splitscreen Halo 3. However, online gaming is far better when you're with friends you already know, especially if you all have microphones. If you don't have any friends with 360s, then it will be significantly less useful to you. Anyway, I hope this helps. I know you just wanted to know specifically about what Live is like, but it's clear you're still not sure whether to buy the console or not so I thought I'd help in the best way I could.
