I eat pancakes and waffles without syrup most of the time. I am an unusual person. Waffles taste better without syrup than pancakes do. So waffles. However, if I wanted syrup i would get pancakes.
Most of the time I have an omelet when I go out to eat.

It's actually "I am a usual person".

Oops I meant "unusual". Wow, I generally post using correct spelling and grammar, but the one time I make a typing error, somebody notices.

What are real pancakes, then? Are British pancakes better than ours?

Not just British pancakes. They're the same across Europe. A pancake is very thin and about the size of the plate you eat it on. You put your chosen filling on it and then roll it up before eating. The most traditional filling is lemon and sugar, but many things work. I'm personally very partial to banana and chocolate spread, and also to vanilla, chocolate or coffee ice cream.

Well that sounds interesting. If I ever get to go to Europe I will have to try it. I love lemon flavored things

This is not a pancake:

This is a pancake (a rather fancy one):

Observe carefully how they can be folded:

The pronunciation. As with Uganda and similar words, the pronounciation is actually written as [ju:] I believe. Basically, it doesn't start with a vowel sound, therefore it's "a" and not "an".

I have a Grammar Sense, kinda like Spidey's Spider Sense. It tingles when someone makes a grammatical or spelling error.

No it wouldn't. It would still look smaller and thicker. And it wouldn't taste as nice.

Observe this second video to understand why pancakes are so awesome that Americans' pseudo-pancake copy couldn't hope to come close to their wonderful splendour

Crepes are much thinner. You're supposed to be able to read the newspaper through them
