but if you grew up in a room by yourself with no outside contact, would you find god on your own?

I think true faith stands a better chance in that scenario than in the other you described.

heres my take on relegion,

I think its a primative superstition. In the present we can go into space, split atoms and clone life....yet we still believe an invisible man. When an Amazon tribe fears thunder because they think its a pissed off god, we say "oh, silly them, they're so primative they don't know any better"....then we go and fold our hands and talk to Mr. Invisible. I think relegion is a cash cow for people who know how to use it to their advantage. People will willingly fork over their money and even lives without a second thought in the name of relegion. Its a powerful tool to certain people which I feel is holding us back as free willed individuals. Its pumped into your brain from day one, from your parents, churches and schools....but if you grew up in a room by yourself with no outside contact, would you find god on your own? No, you would laugh at the idea of such a notion.
This is my personal opionion and I do not want to offend anyone and I'm not forcing my beliefs on you. I have respect for others peoples beliefs because they are important to the person, thats all.

PS: if your really pissed about this....Heavyraines made me do it

Playing Devil's Advocate, if you had a person in a room with no outside contact, they would probably decide in a supreme power for the light in the room instead of electrcity.

Paradigm's always have to be formed, whether it is science or faith.

Like I said in another topic.

Science is just another religion.

I don't believe in god, or the soul.  I don't believe there is another dimension of reality (Heaven, hell, floating around on earth as ghosts).  I don't believe there is such thing as ghosts... and until I atleast see proof of that, I will be willing to believe I might one day end up in hell.  In the meantime... I 100% believe that, when I die... I die.  No replays, no second chances with reincarnation.... the big end.

To be honest... with so many people out there believing the same thing I believe, I'm amazed people don't just do whatever the hell they feel like.   Hell, i'm amazed I don't do that.  If this is really it, for the rest of eternity... what's the freaking point?

I think that would be a pretty depressing way to live, but plenty of people do.

I don't really get that thinking. I guess it just depends on how you look at it, but if you think that this is the only existance you will ever have, you cherish it more. You can go either way with it, as you can with religion too.

He bumped it!!! Cool.

yeh nice find harry alot more interesting than the usual s@~t

anyway I believe in multiple dimensions that exist in different planes of time a like partical physics theory that states that electrons don't orbit atoms but warp around them because they are small and fast enough to move between dimensions,
to cut a long story short thought and movement are electrical pulses created by electrons these electrons can exist in other dimensions at the same time, this explains ghosts(accounts of high emp reads around sightings) and the afterlife with your thoughts and spirit existing in another dimension
