I tried searching previous posts but nothing came up, so i'll just ask now. I started messing around with my ps3 and doing the media server bit; also messed around with tversity and what not. But for some reason, tversity doesn't show up, and my ps3 doesn't show up when i try to get it working with Media Player. Everything is connected to the same network in my house, as I only have one. I'm not sure what's wrong; maybe it's too late and i'm not thinking straight.

Also, out of curiosity, has anyone streamed from their laptop to their ps3? I have never tried, and was wondering if I can. But it's late and I don't want to mess with things anymore. So i'll just go with the easy route and just ask.

I'm running Ubuntu so I'm not to familiar with Tversity, but I just installed a great little program called Mediatomb and it works like a charm for streaming from my laptop to my PS3. I used to just copy stuff directly to the PS3 HD, but my thumb drive got corrupted a while back and I needed a quick solution so I could watch this movie I downloaded. Turns out the PS3 is way less finicky about which files it will play if you stream them rather than copying them to the HD.

Edit: If you're using Windows, mediaplayer works fine for streaming things as well. I used to hate it when I ran Windows because of the way it handles playlists and such, but it should be way easier to set it up than Tversity. I got it up and running pretty quickly before I scrubbed Windows off this PC.
