This may be kind of late but its getting annoying when people call mgs 4 a film. Basicly because no film is more than 3 hours really. So it should be called a really long movie.... or somethin lol. My favorite game of all time though.

MGS4 is an interactive 9 hour long cutscene. But it's still better than what you call..."games."

There we go a good name. I dont care if people dont call it a game because the 9 hour interactive cutscene whoops on any game.

this was the first mgs game i have played and it did have a lot of cutscenes, but the quality of the game was amazing. they are just trying to mess with you. you know deep down they secretly envy us.

Yeah, the same Cliffy B who sucked Kojima's balls in the MGS LE bonus disk, by talking about how the Metal Gear series is one of the best of all time?

Yeah, that Cliffy B. Itagaki was also in the bonus disk footage, for the record.

You MGS fans are so defensive, go see Zero Punctuation's analysis of MGS4 and tell me that Yatzee is wrong about his points. I'm not calling it a bad game, but to me who hates long cut scenes it is very passive

Cliffy B is the last guy anyone should take seriously. Nice. Damn I still haven't checked out the bonus disk. Shat.

Fair enough to your last point. As for Yahtzee, he's satire. If you want to take him seriously, then every game is pretty much just ****.

If you skip the cutscenes, you might as well not played the game, thats how passive it is.

If you skip all the cutscenes you'll still get as much playtime as Halo 3 gives you, and that includes Halo 3's cutscenes.

Unless you don't like Halo 3's campaign, in which case I retract my point.

It is satire, but is he wrong in his evaluation of the game. I bet some people were laughing at that, but inside they knew he was right. I'm not saying because Yahtzee says it it must be true, but that clip sumed up what i feel is wrong with MGS. If it was anyone but Kojima doing this they would be taken to task by gamers and the media, just saying

yeah i dont think cliffy b should have said that, but he is intitled to his opinion and to me gears of war was just passive entertainment and i didnt think it was that good (the bad guys look like grey monkeys). and if he realy was saying that mgs4 was one of the best games and then bashed it in fron of xbox fans then i think he is an a@# whole, and should be ignored.

If it was anyone but Kojima, it'd have a story fans wouldn't like, horrible direction, and wouldn't survive as an interactive movie. People who dislike cutscenes can tolerate it even to the extent they do because they're well done. If we had Ninja Gaiden cutscenes that length, everyone would be dead before the game ends. (No offense to NG, best action game ever, garbage eating storyline.) Besides, he knocks Halo 3 and DMC a lot more than he does MGS.

@grant: And Gears is excellent, crap storyline, but that's not their goal anyway. I don't care if people dislike MGS, only when they discredit it for no palpable reason.
