This gen so far for me has been fairly dissapointing. The games have been good, but i was hoping for less expansion and graphical improvements and more innovation.
It's taken a while, but it looks like its getting there.

I just downloaded Mirrors edge trailer on psn and for me, it looks fresh, innovative and ballzy to try somethin different. And oh my god its coming from EA (kind of)

That for me, is next gen.

what do you guys think?

No.  The first "next gen" game was released during the launch of the 360 a couple years ago.  Unless you're talking about Mirrors Edge being delayed and releasing on the next generation of consoles?  This is now the current generation, and it is time to stop using that "next gen" to describe the present.

it is going to be a straightforward FPS with a gimmicky and most likely in the end heavily flawed movement system.

P.S. also you will have to pay 5 cents every time you jump.

Mirror's edge has the potential to be a good game, not to mention that it's a first person game in which you can see a full body, but it's not the biggest innovation of this generation.

I'd put my bets on Little Big Planet being a major splash. Innovative games need to be new IPs, and I can't think of anything else that really stretches the boundaries this much. (Obviously I'm not talking about graphics on their own here).

No, the first next-gen game is a stunning and revolutionary game called Vampire Rain. So innovative...

But seriously, what Dr Pepper said.
Also, completely disagreed with SpaceCowgirl.

I dunno about revolutionary...Breakdown already covered the full body movement thing, except the jumping from building to building thing.

But I'm guessing this game will get the whole "they started the genre first" crap.

Just like no one bothers to remember or mention Killswitch, but gives Gears all the credit for the cover system.

Though I agree with on SpaceCowgirl the 5 cents per jump thing which isn't unlikely considering EA and DICE's track record.

As for the game, I the first person free running idea has been tried before but with such style, quality and awesomeness... It's definitly next-gen.

the first next-gen game won't be here for years to come, if you REALLY think about it

it looks like a cool game though, the graphics caught my eye more than the free-running to be honest, purely because I agree with SPC that they could easily get that part wrong and the whole thing will become a frustrating mess

but alas, I wont judge until I see the game properly

Pity I don't support EA.

I'll be too busy with MGS4 anyway

To be honest i see it as a miss. Sure it has nice color and the free running looks cool. But with EA working on it, all i see is all flash no substance. Just like all their other games

I think the controls are going to be busted, but I'd prefer to not pass judgment until I see more.

Also, it reminded me alot like Breakdown, which I loved alot on the Xbox so I hope it's something I can enjoy.

Guys, I know EA sucks but they are publishing the game.
The developer is DICE and they have pretty awesome track record.

BF:Bad Co. is crap and Dice is making it. Hell if Dice can't do a BF game right I doubt they can do anything else.

im not interested in your technicalities. As far as im concern, most of the stuff ive played so far has not been next gen ;).

I think i agree with the controls comment. They need to make it innovative and intuitive. I wouldnt want the same old controls thats lame.

PS guys....Operation winback had the cover system first!
