ORIGINAL: Maddens Raiders I didn't know such a thing exists. I would think you would need Linux at the very least as the program would need to sit in your system tray and monitor all your network connections, right? Something that shows extensive information about each connection: remote host IP, remote host name (if available), amounts of incoming and outgoing traffic, name of the process that initiated or accepted this connection, etc. I don't know it sounds awfully cool if you can pull it off -- if Sony would allow such access to outsiders, but anything is possible. Let us know! i know its possible... well i dunno if sony would allow it, but i dont have a clue why not. quote:
ORIGINAL: mega_dranix I think this is possible IF you run Linux on your PS3. On the native PS3 OS itself however, I'm not sure how you can do this. Are you considering creating a homebrew of sorts? Can you expound on what you are planning to do so we could have a rough idea on your project? I think it is possible if you might have a PS3 devkit to program this thing. what i am exactly trying to do, is (try) to make an actual working PSN card online, and with working i mean, one that is exactly like the one you see on the PS3.. and also that is up to date, like what you are currently doing (play what you are playig lol), what your comment is, your trophies and trophy level, and even a comparer if possible.. now i've got the PHP/HTML/JavaScript knowledge for this, the only thing i need to know what where the PS3 gets this information from, so that i can use a php file to extract this information and then write it (using GD for those who know) on the card, and then users can request their PSN card (e.g. http://domain.com/psn_name.gif where psn_name is the well psn name of the user :P ) i thought about doing it on linux, and i made a post on the ubuntu forums (easiest since im registered there already from quite a while ago) and im just waiting for a reply.. however the problem with linux is that i'd have to run it as a proxy, in which case it won't work since the PSN uses SSL to login and do some other stuff (i know this from the CFsomething PS3 proxy)..
