hmmmm im not sure if they sync.. i know you can access music from portable hard drives and a networked computer, but i have never tried plugging in an mp3 player.  Does syncing mean when that you play songs from the mp3 player (using the mp3 players controls), and it outputs to the TV?

To download songs from the player to the PS3, just go to the unkown device, press triangle and then select display all. It should bring up a list of your songs and allow you to copy them. Sorry I don't know anything about syncing the device. It's definitely not possible with mine.

Well you said it was recognizing it as an unknown device right? When I plug mine into my PS3 through USB it just recognozes it as a generic storage device. I use it to copy TV shows, movies and UT3 mods to my system. It should show up as storage device or unknown device or something to that effect under the video, music and games sections.

Are you hooking it up through USB?

Edit: Hmmm...just saw your post. That's weird. I've never heard of an MP3 player that can't be used as a generic flash memory device. Even an ipod should work like that.

yeah under the music tab.. it should state either storage device.. or unknown. or whatver.  this would be under (or above) the search for media servers and playlists.  If you see that unknown device, highlight it, hit triangle, and show all files.. and your songs should be there.  Good luck

FIrst of all I'm pissed PS3 doesn't seem to be compatible with my iPod nano. Anyone figured this out? Maybe I have to enable disk use for iPod?

If you can set it so your computer will recognize it as a generic flash memory device, then your PS3 will do the same. When my friend hooked his up to my PS3 it recognized it immediately.

the problem is I have a mac and it is fussy about doing things like that, especially after all the money I invested in iTunes.

iTunes...that's your problem right there. It's not that I mind paying for music, it's just that stealing it is so much more convenient. Stupid iTunes.
