I'm thinking of buying a ps3 soon and was wondering what size of hardrive would be enough. It seems that the 40 gig is the only one advertised and sold in my area. I will probalby be only playing games and watching movies on it, would a 40 gig be large enough? I read that GTA4 downloads a portion of the game to the hard drive to reduce load times during the game, is that common with all ps3 games? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

it is enough...but, you can always upgrade to a bigger hdd if you feel the need to, I did so b/c i had the 20GB...I upgraded to a 160GB HDD, but that is b/c it is my main source for media files, my computer is used for school so I need all the space for programs
No, you don't have to do that for every single PS3 game ever made....some do yes, but not all.
Thats just some crap some fanboys made up to make themselves feel better....some games do, some games don't....but I can see that trend getting more and more common in future though.
I wouldn't suggest a 40gb though if you want B/C...The harddrive can easily be upgraded with any SATA 2.5 5400rpm harddrive.
a harddrive topic. you don't mind me asking, do games like warhawk and GTP5 get copied in an external HDD when i do a back up? cause someone told me that some games won't allow you to back them up and i'll have to re download them again to install them in a new HDD. please people i'm asking nicely here.
