Yeah it is not good... this looks like the publishers are not supporting dedicated servers...
that sucks... it makes a difference...

really sad but still prefer the better graphics and mods well most games having mods anyways.

What was the first game to feature just matchmaking?

I think it's despicable that we've moved away from having a choice of which server to play, to being forced into a game.

All a matchmaking server does is to pick a game for you. Well I'm perfectly capable of picking a game myself thank you very much. It doesn't take much to sort by ping ascending and then choosing a game I think looks good. Matchmaking forces you into the one on top of the list, a server list gives you the choice of that one or many others.

Who cares. You'll play it anyways.

I don't play games online, but I still think it sucks. They are gimping every aspect of PC gaming. First DRM, then third party programs that work like crap (GFWL), now they're cutting LAN from games that were made famous from it ( starcraft 2), and C&C4 requires a constant internet connection, and now every FPS is being raped by being forced to play in the laggiest way possible. My complaint is also that no games have offline BOT A.I anymore, people say it doesn't matter beause they play online, but now look whats happening. They are taking game features away that were once standard, one at a time. Pretty soon half the campaign will be on disk ( which comes with a limited install DRM), then the rest of the campaign will come in DLC, $5 a level....20 levels.

I'm behind you oh wise PC Elitist (you are an elitist aren't you?)

Lets all not forget the definition of PC Elitist that is: a PC gamer who refuses to play any game on any system other than the PC. While a PC fanboy is someone who prefers the PC vastly over other systems. Not that this applies to anyone here (I wouldn't know), but there's no bigger peeve than mismatched denotations for me.
 
On a more related note. Yeah, this **** sucks, especially since Id is doing it; the forefathers of mainstream PC gaming. Doing it for piracy and game balance and all that bull****. Too bad both L4D and TF2 use dedicated servers and are some of the most balanced MP shooters of this generation.
 
And everyone's forgetting that P2P sucks total dick for MP games, and that is gimps the entire game if one or more players has a **** ping. It's a thing of the past, dedicated servers fixed this, but now we're back to the old, old model. I honestly don't know what the hell is going on here.
