PS3:

A PS3. It plays PS3 games, and does a few other things like lets you watch Netflix.

A computer:

It plays games, and it's also a computer - essentially an open development and distribution platform, a multimedia hub, useful in tons of different applications such as media editing, office work, game/software development/manipulation, and pretty much everything else you'd ever need or want to do electronically. A better PC enables better performance in all of these aspects; even your graphics card will help greatly (GPGPU, hardware acceleration)

My challenge to you is to prove to me that the PS3 is an adequate replacement for the PC, as I feel that's fair and equal to your challenge, by proving to me that everything I can or would want to do on my PC I can also do on my PS3.

PPl who buy a Console and tv spend £500 ( 500gb ps3+hdtv) im assuming (depending on the tv) and they probably also own a home computer of some sort which maybe another £400 for an average laptop etc

So for £900 the get to play games and also use their comp for work/correspondence/social networking etc.

I spent £1500 for a comp that plays all games at max or close, do video editing work and make money from it, connect to my tv and play/watch etc and dont own anything else in my residence coz im a freelancer living on rent. If I were to buy a console and separte laptop I would not get what I want at all. The mediocre laptop wont get my work done, hell rendering a red footage video would crash the comp. The ps3 would not satisfy me as I want good quailty graphics and also love to use a kb/mouse etc.

So it comes down to what do you want to do and whats your life situation.I had limited amt of money when I made the decision to buy a single piece of hardware for everything and not only to play and work but do both well. So if you cant afford a good comp and still want to play game s and of course you'll use a comp for other things then its fine.

The challenge is pointless as its not about whether it can run a particular game but whether you're happy with your decisions and if they suit you in your current life situation.

\Actually add Windows 8 for $14.99 to that computer that was listed piece by piece above on this page and you just built the pc with operating system. Keyboard and mouse combo for $10 from walmart coupled with the price difference between Hitman Absolution for computer vs for ps3 and Still have room to spare. There is no tax for me as newegg is tax free out of state.

Yeah.. no.. My power supply costs more than you are willing to spend on the entire computer. my graphics card 3 times as much. You can find better computers in people garbage than what you are looking to spend.
