For PS3:
- Dishonored
- Bioshock series
- Darkness series

If you get back in the mood for FPS/RPG hybrids:
- DeusEx (1 & HumanRevolution)
- Vampire:The Masquerade
- Stalker:Shadow of Chernobyl

First F.E.A.R game is worth a try.

I agree with this. Fear 1 on PC is probably the definitive Fear game - while the others are still good as shooters, they do stray from the 'psychological horror' aspect that made the first game so daunting

Black Mesa is also definitely worth a try since it's free, as the above poster mentioned. If you haven't played any Half Lifes, you might as well get them all (1,2,Episode 1, Episode 2) since they are cheap and will likely run on lower-end computers, unless your laptop is very severely low-specced.

Regarding Metro 2033 - it won't run on your laptop, I can almost guarantee that. If it actually does, it'll won't be playable.

Regarding Borderlands 2 - you should play it regardless of your reservations. Fantastic game. Clocked more hours on that than any game in recent history that I've played

You should try black mesa, it's free and it runs on the source engine. Or play the stalker games, those are fantastic and similar to fallout.

- Rainbow Six Vegas
- Rainbow six Vegas 2
- FEAR 1
- FEAR 2 (FEAR 3 was garbage)
- The Darkness 1 (The Darkness 2 was only 5 hours long)
- Battlefield: Bad Company 1 (fantastic single player campaign)
- Killzone 3 (you can pick up the multiplayer for $15.00 on the PSN)
- Crysis 1 (get the PS3 version for $19.99 on the PSN)
- Metro 2033 (next to The Darkness 1 and FEAR 1, this game is one of the most atmospheric games you can buy...awesome!)

^^ This guy knows the good stuff. BF3 has great online, so does Tribes: Ascend.

Hi, I'm really in a craving playing an FPS now. I only have a PS3 and a "low specs" laptop. I'm almost done beating Fallout3 and I poured in about 62 hours into that game. I played that game so much that I want to take a break from it and play a normal FPS rather than a Western RPG. I'd like one with a good campaign. Online play is nice too, but thats secondary.

Does anyone have any recommendations? It could be on PS3 or PC. But just remember, I have a low specs laptop.

Here is a list of FPS games that I already beat:
Resistancce Fall of Man
Resistance 2
Resistance 3
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Modern Warfare 2
KillZone 2
CoD: Black Ops
Modern Warfare 1
Borderlands
Crysis2
ModernWarfare 3
KillZone3
I have Borderlands 2 but I just don't feel like playing it because it reminds me of FO3, it'll leave a stale taste in my mouth. I want to play it only when I feel like I'm in a "loot and shoot" mood again.

Some games that are in my radar, but let me know if I should get them:
KillZone HD (psn)
Call of Duty: WaW (because it's only 15 bucks)
Medal of Honor 2010

If it doesn't have to be strictly FPS look up Binary Domain, dirt cheap now but its 3rd person rather than first. Story is probably one of the best i've come across for this gen of consoles, enough to make me want to play it through 3 times.

Or just wait for Bioshock Infinite which has Bioshock 1 on disc of the PS3 version. If you want a FPS with a great single player, Bioshock is a must. Get Far Cry 3 too.

MOH is great online MP. SP = meh (and has strange physics: ie bullets penetrating water)

This isn't an attack on OP, but it's interesting to see that a lot of people only started with FPS's with Resistance or Call of Duty 4. I think that says a lot about the current state of the FPS genre and why it's so bad lately.

If you haven't played Bioshock (1 or 2) yet, give the 1st a try. Otherwise I would play Killzone and then see if people like Far Cry 3.

I've played FEAR 3. It's good if you can get it cheap ($20). It's not a scary as FEAR 2, but still a solid FPS with quite a few jumps. Being able to play as as Fedel after you've finished the campaign adds some re-playability too.

I did, it's a lot of fun in co-op. Not sure about Single Player though, I'd imagine that really takes away from the experience.
