"Most" could be access to the cloud, Gaikai, PS+, BC, apps.

If it's is true they'll make the non subscription service bare bones to entice customers.

Also, the premium model price is $529? What?

doubt they'd make you pay for BC though

I wouldn't put it past Sony, after this gen gamers are set up to taken advantage of for everything on a games console. I wouldn't even be surprised if they charged for online multiplyaer, MS are making too much money off of it.

I hope not. even though I admitably favor xbox to playstation I am happy to see that Sony's loyalty to their customers kept them unique this gen. I admired that they chose not to charge for online, when Microsoft made millions from it, or that they chose to put resources into strong inhouse IP's instead of going completely casual. however the way things are looking with the eye toy and new controller design its clear that they are trying following the success their competition chased. Hope they at least keep the online sacred though.

A reliable Kotaku source has informed us that the PlayStation 4, codenamed Orbis, will be out this November in the United States.

Our source—the same reliable source who back in early 2012 told us the codename for Sony's next console and the codename for Microsoft's next console—tells us that there are two models planned for the new machine, and that pricing won't be announced until later this year, possibly around E3. The current plan, our source says, is to release them at $429 and $529, but that could change.

New information revealed by our source suggests that on top of all that, you'll also be able to control the PS4 remotely from your tablet or smartphone. You'll be able to use a mobile device to chat with your PS4 friends or buy games which are then automatically downloaded to your machine, our source says.

Orbis is also following the path first set by Xbox Live: our source says "most" of the PS4's online features will require a premium subscription to use. Sony's new online service will be called PlayStation World, our source says, replacing PlayStation Plus.

I can't see it being £300. That would be cheaper then the WiiU at launch. I still think it's going to be at around £325-350, the £300 i could see as a very basic model. I'd be surprised if they reveal the price on Wednesday and not at E3.

“If PS4 has a real-time OS, with a libGCM style low level access to the GPU, then the PS4 1st party games will be years ahead of the PC simply because it opens up what is possible on the GPU. Note this won’t happen right away on launch, but once developers tool up for the platform, this will be the case.
As a PC guy who knows hardware to the metal, I spend most of my days in frustration knowing damn well what I could do with the hardware, but what I cannot do because Microsoft and IHVs wont provide low-level GPU access in PC APIs. One simple example, drawcalls on PC have easily 10x to 100x the overhead of a console with a libGCM style API.”

Rage doesn't even know what something means and he'll post reactions like that to it. Someone say something technically complicated that seems like it's positive for Sony but in reality means Rage will get anally ravaged by monster wangs.

Only DDR3 for system/GPU memory pared with 32MB of “ESRAM” sounds troubling. 32MB of ESRAM is only really enough to do forward shading with MSAA using only 32-bits/pixel color with 2xMSAA at 1080p or 4xMSAA at 720p. Anything else to ESRAM would require tiling and resolves like on the Xbox360 (which would likely be a DMA copy on 720) or attempting to use the slow DDR3 as a render target.

If the duel camera is true, it might be a new PS Eye to compete with Kinect.

Still not sure what duel camera would be used for, 3D? One camera to focus on the player, the second for the environment.

Maybe it's going to be used for tracking movrment the "new" controller.
