Never understood the fuss over mandatory installs. I install all my games to my hdd on my 360. It gives me faster load times.

LOL I guess I should have clarified. I'll be watching out for which console has mandatory installs and staying clear in possible. I install all of my 360 games as well, I don't like the noise I get without doing so, but that's after I've tried it out. 360 installs take half the time that PS3 installs do, not to mention multiplatforms load faster. I guess I should have cleared that up earlier

I agree. There is no way Sony will make a console that cost as much as the PS3 at launch, meaning decent specs but not out of the 720s league. No doubt they will both have a gimmick to set them apart from each other, and emphasis on unique UI and software.

Not to mention that despite the supposedly superior specs and years of begging from the Sony faithful, the PS3 was unable to handle XGC while the 360 could at launch. Like this gen, next gen specs are low on my priority list. I'll be looking for things like software, online services, mandatory installs, and media capabilities.

Except all recent leaked "info" reflects similar things. Unless MS sees what Sony unveils, and redesigns their console - and I don't see this being possible. Especially if they both are releasing later this year.

Beyond3D: Sony greatly deceived 3rd parties this time around. Supposedly Ubisoft and Activision, as well as others were led to believe that the PS4 would be a low power A10 equivalent, that had access to 2GB of unified DDR3 ram.
Microsoft probably developed the Durango to exceed that.

I just think that this is not fair, even if Ubisoft and Activision were leaking information to MS, Sony should have been more honest. I expect the next Ubisoft and Activision titles to not use any additional PS4 processing power at all because of this. They were played hard. The Durango suffers in the long term as a consequence of Sony's lies and deceit. It's just not fair.

If you guys remember the same thing happened with the PS3 and Sony was pissed as hell when they discovered that the CPU on the Xbox was based on research of the Cell. The only difference was that the Cell had SPE's instead of general purpose cores. But now Sony apparently deceived everybody to prevent this from happening again and that's why the next-Xbox specs are so weak.

hmmmm a pretty big "what if" wrapped in a rumor from a site's anon source combined with speculation gathered from last gen's development strategies.

all jokes aside though, speculation is better than nothing. I just can wait to see the official specs on both consoles

I had entertained the idea that something like this could potentially be an intelligent move for either Sony or Microsoft to make. I somehow doubt either of them did this though, as they could lose early developer support if those developers are only aware of false specifications.

If this is true then the next Xbox is officially a joke and I really feel bad for Xbox fans because all they'll get is a slightly more powerful re-skinned X360 with improved Kinect. Nintendo did ruin gaming with the Wii but thank god Sony are based.

Can someone compare the Orbis specs with those above, to 360 and PS3 difference? Minor diff or big?
