Dammit you beat me to it.

I'm really not sure how to take this.  While I've always wanted Lucas to give up his precious and let someone else make it good again... Disney?

As far as I know, they got the studio. Not the IP.

Checked other sources, apparently so. Is Lucas dying or something?

Maybe he finally realized can't make a decent flick to save his life any more.  Also I believe they get ALL IPs, including Indiana Jones.  Wonder what they'll do with that.

Disney purchases Lucasfilm Ltd. from George Lucas for $4.05 billion and announces "Star Wars Episode 7" is scheduled for a 2015 release.

Not too sure about this...

They did a pretty good job on tron, so I really don't know how to take this.  What I DO know is that Episode VII would have been GARBAGE in Lucas' hands.  At least now it has hope.

Lucas did that already, I'm hoping if they do plan another movie, leave Shia and aliens the **** out.

I can understand this move, the suits at Disney want to change the companies image as it's been regarded for decades as a kiddie family company. They're trying to broaden their image to other genres and age groups. However I don't approve of them just buying out companies like Marvel and LucasFilms. They'd rather focus their attention on properties that have already established them self.

The lazy rich no risk having ****s.

Does that mean we'll see a un-Lucas-edited Episode IV-VI on BD in the next century?

On one hand I am devastated on the other I am happy that George Lucas has passed the reigns to someone else. Now as long as Disney does not go full retard on the franchise maybe it has hope.

Hopefully, even though he already burned all of the master copies.

One thing that comes to mind with Disney is censorship. Anyone want to gamble how bad that'll be?

There's the laserdisc edition and they believe they can reverse engineer it or some hooplah.

And, yeah, Lucas is an idiot for destroying the master copies.  A true idiot.

If they're going to have the story continue on, where there have been books already on the future events one could assume that for a new generation of characters it'll mostly likely be about the Solo children training with Luke in the Yavin 4 Jedi Academy.

Unless they follow the events of Luke fighting the remaining Imperial forces, which I kind of doubt as they don't span that far. The Solo children's birth follows right after that. The Young Jedi Knight series was pretty good, really felt like a Star Wars script for 6,7,8 having read it as a kid.
