If you'd looked a bit further, you'd find an thread about someone questioning himself too to buy or not. Most reasons etc are in this thread:

Nope, 3DS is leaps and bounds ahead.

Nope, just ahead in worse graphics, unit sales and 1st party Nintendo same IP's as 20 to 30 years ago.

Not in online, nor in fresh IP's, not in hardware. It is clearly shown in the other thread.

The Vita is really the true gamer's dream handheld. Just the fact that it has 2 joysticks alone is enough to be better than the 3DS.
Every game on 3DS is broken for the lack of not having that second stick.

Just looking at the games on my Vita I see a few: Ragnarok Odyssey, Unit 13, Gravity Rush, Retro City Rampage, Dokuro, Smart As, Foosball 2012, and When Vikings Attack! The only original ip I played on my DS was Brain Age. Edit: If anyone's looking at getting a Vita they should wait for Black Friday.

Uhm 3DS has more, as its a long list of rehashed Mario, Zelda, Kirby, more Mario...

PSVita has more fresh, real games in that way than the 3DS. Nintendo fans have their colored goggles on that block a real view on what is out there though.

Re:Planning to buy PSVita - Tuesday, November 13, 2012 9:36 AM ( #16 )
Nutsack posted my forum page on the first post. so i did end up buying the AC3L bundle. well, it was a xmas/bday gift from my girlfriend and i cant open it then. as its unopened, i have 30 days to return it to gamestop, in which i recently considered doing so. it looks like a pretty banging system and i cant wait to open it and start playing AC3L on a classy white vita. but ive considered returning it for a variety of reasons. for one, the vitas sold around 3 million units worldwide. so currently its not a hot item exactly. understandibly, it hasnt seen its first holiday season yet. i would like to be an owner when its hot, not when its cold. secondly, the main reasons i wanted the vita is mainly Killzone Mercenary, with an honorable mention of Uncharted, LBP, Resistance Burning Skies, Blops Declassified and AC3L (which came in the bundle). the thing is, KZ:M doesnt come out till 2013, although we are almost there, theres no exact release date yet. so we could be looking at late 2013. by then, all those games i listed above will have a much lower price tag saving me money. also, the vita may receive a price cut by then. again saving me money. and im hoping sony will bundle KZ:M with the vita and a 4gb memory stick like theyve been doing with previous bundles. so i think next year is the opportune time for me to own a vita. i may still hold on to mine though. i gotta think about it.

Seriously though, although i have minimal expirience with it, i couldnt be more excited to get my hands on one. they really look like a great handheld expirience. if nows the right time for you, id say go ahead and pick one up. might be able to pick one up a little cheaper on black friday. also, COD: Blops Declassified is bundled with the system with a 4 gb memory card. an additional 60 dollar value bundled in for free. maybe you should take advantage of that if nows the right time for you

You're getting a nice fat paycheck from Nintendo or something? Where is the 3DS better?

Hardware? Nope. 3DS is weak yo. Can't compare it to the CPU/GPU of the PSVita. Front and back MULTI touch on PSVita. 3DS does one touch old tech stylus, it is weak yo. And that 3D isn't real 3D. It is adding some dept. Many games don't even use it as it is a sales gimmick like Wiimote was for the Wii.

Online? Nope. PSVita has full PSN access and even does cross game chat. 3DS? lmfao Nintendo and online lololol

Games? Depends. If you want another rehashed decades old 1st party Mario, Zelda or Kirby, 3DS is your system. If you check all games released on Metacritic, you find that the most new refreshing IP's for the more adult gamer (yup not talking about those Nintendogs and stuff for 5 year olds), PSVita has the upper hand with games like Gravity Rush, Zero Escape, Sound Shapes, Escape Plan, Unit 13, Ragnarok... Just a few besides good versions of the good playstation IP's like LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, Wipeout and more. Not to forget 3rd party  IP's for the more adult gamers like Assassins Creed, Call of Duty, MLB 12 the show, Disgea 3, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter x Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Need for Speed... Besides that the announced Tear Away from Media Molecule, upcoming Killzone and we all know that games like God of War, Gran Turismo and maybe even new IP's like The Last of Us will find their way to the PSVita.

Nintendo fans are blind followers and talk without facts that support their statements. The 3DS basically isn't good in anything, like anything Nintendo released since the Wii, as it is underpowered and is just good for 1st party old rehashed stuff.

Congrats on your new purchase! Dokuro looks like another interesting title. Take a look at the new PS+ instant game collection for PSVita, it gives you Uncharted, Gravity Rush, Wipeout, Tales and Jet Set Radio HD in USA just this month already. And two new games in December already, like every month. If you have a PS3, you get instant game collection for that too. For that 50 bucks a year, you basically can't go wrong owning a PSVita at this point in time!
