The Most Secret of Santas
-
Wednesday, November 21, 2012 9:59 PM
( #1 )
It's that time again!! Here's how it works: _________________________________________ What is secret santa? It's when you secretly get another person's name and you secretly pick out a present for them and secretly send it to that person! In turn, that person secretly has someone else's name and picks out a secret present for them. And so on. Boring Rules: - You must have been a participating member on the N4G forums for at least the past 8 weeks. One post wonders, those just signing up and inactive old-timers, I'm sorry, but you can hang around til next year, right? - If you want to participate, PM me (Cat, http://n4g.com/user/home/cat ) with: Your Real Name Valid Mailing Address Valid Email Address BY MIDNIGHT PST, SUNDAY DECEMBER 2, 2011. <--This is important. Participants will be matched on Monday, December 3rd* to allow for shopping and shipping. Here's how it's gonna go: 1) Sign up (By PMing me (Cat, http://n4g.com/user/home/cat ) with: Your Real Name Valid Mailing Address Valid Email Address BY MIDNIGHT PST, SUNDAY DECEMBER 2, 2011. <--This is important. Participants will be matched on Monday, December 3rd* to allow for shopping and shipping.) 2) I semi-randomly pair participants with their secret santa. 3) It's a secret. A secret santa. That means don't tell anyone - remember, if you tell someone else who you have then that person knows you don't have them and before you know it it's a vicious cycle of deduction and there's no secret, which means there's no santa! Ahhh!! 4) Participants will be matched as much as possible by continent/country to avoid excessive shipping charges. (That means another member will be supplied with your mailing address and real name, if that makes you uncomfortable that's OK, just don't participate.) 5) You pick out something cool that costs around $25. Try to be thoughtful and fun when choosing the gift. The people participating are active forum goers, look at their post history, read what they have to say, what games they like, etc.. If you're participating drop a few hints! _______________________________________________ Things that will ruin it and make everyone hate you: 1) Failing to send a present. You will be banned from the Forums. 2) Asking your person what they want. 3) Sending a gift certificate (c'mon, we can be more creative than that!) 4) Being a jerk. Things that will make ME hate you: 1) 1-4 listed above. 2) PMing me asking what to get someone. I already finished my Christmas shopping, man up and do yours! 3) No Grinches. Again, you don't have to participate. This is a wholly optional activity, so if you don't want to participate you don't need to post saying you aren't going to participate, etc. Doing anything like this will earn you a Grinch title. Doing any of the above or anything close to any of the above will result in exile from santa, santa's workshop, the holiday season, and all future good cheer and merriment. _______________________________________________ What can you do? - You can absolutely pick out something really awesome to send your person. - You can totally send said awesomeness to your person in a timely manner (think by December 15th) so they get the present before Epiphany! -You can definitely post pictures and general thankfulness here on the forums when you receive your really awesome present. Questions? Let me know! Participating members: thebudgetgamer

Cool, I think last year turned out great. I always found Super Nintendo games to be pretty fun. Especially games like Super Mario Wolrd and Ken Griffey Jr baseball.

The only people that might have my address on this site are Cat and MD. Cat because I've won physical prizes here before, and MD because we frequently send our love to each other.

I was wondering when this thread would pop up. Although I kinda wonder how did my secret Santa know I collect video game action figures since I tend to keep a low profile on N4G. Must be some sort of mastermind .
