MD . . . Rare are back! Get hyped! - Thursday, November 29, 2012 6:26 AM ( #1 )
Rare making cloud-based Kinect game, working with "extremely early prototype hardware"

http://www.oxm.co.uk/48015/rare-making-cloud-based-kinect-game-working-with-extremely-early-prototype-hardware/

Among the possibilities is - MASTERFUL INTRODUCTORY METAPHOR TIE-IN ALERT - a cloud-based Kinect game. Rare needs a principal network services engineer to help "push the boundaries of the Kinect hardware with our exciting new project". The lucky applicant will help develop "ambitious cloud services within our upcoming titles". The studio is also in the market for a principal physics engineer with "direct experience of implementing real-time physics in a synchronised network environment". Cloud-based Jenga, perhaps?

A little more excitingly, a gameplay engineer is required to work on something which sounds suspiciously like an Xbox 720 spin on Lionhead's defunct, much-mourned Milo & Kate.

Are you not hyped?!?!?!

On a side note: MGS Vancouver has been renamed "Black Tusk Studios", and guess what? They're apparently making a new space shooter IP. Dat variety!

It's going to be extremely difficult to beat the fun factor of dancing with my favorite Star Wars characters though.

Not sure if this is sarcasm, but if it's not...Rare are long dead. The people that made Banjo Kazooie, DK and Conker have left a long time ago. As I said in another thread, there is someone who is working on getting people to make a spiritual successor to Banjo&Kazooie.

I hope they can create some innovative technology that other devs can use too.

How pitiful. Rare, the creator of the better part of my childhood, being forced to wipe the **** off of microsofts ass..

I recall my initial excitement when the 3rd Banjo Kazooie title was revealed. I was curious about the name choice, "Nuts and Bolts", as I didn't really see what that had to do with anything. When I saw the game itself, I was filled with anger and frustration. Banjo Kazooie was my favourite childhood game, and instead of a platformer, we got a convoluted vehicle construction game that had almost no similarity to the first two entries in the series. I then realized what I had already known but chose to ignore up until that day - Rare will never make anything good ever again. This thread had my fleeting interest until I saw the word "Kinect". I have since returned to reality. If this thread was a troll, which it probably is, then that's okay too. Rare are a joke now and deserve to be treated like one. Personally I'm excited for Kinect Sports 3, it will give me a reason to drink away my sorrows and cry myself to sleep in fetal position

It makes me facepalm every time someone says Nuts & Bolts is a bad game.

The problem with Nuts and Bolts is not that it is a bad game, the problem is that it has nothing to do with Banjo Kazooie. If I made a sequel to Halo and it was the best racing game you've ever played, do you think Halo fans would receive it well? Halo 5: Grand Prix

Nuts and Bolts was a fantastic game, it just wasn't a very good Banjo-Kazooie game.

I enjoyed the fan service but making it into a car game was the wrong thing to do.

@Kon @MD @Satanas

I've never played a Banjo game before but I thought Nuts and Bolts was pretty awesome, 99% -ed it. Would've gotten 100% but there's this one impossible turret mission.

I understand that if you have never played Banjo you would react far differently than me, however I can speak on behalf of all Banjo fans that the change in direction was a major disappointment. Taking a new angle can be good sometimes, but not when you eliminate the core component of what made the series. Banjo is a platforming series, and Nuts and Bolts isn't a platformer. After 8 years of waiting for a sequel, you can perhaps understand how severely disappointing that would be

I like banjo and kazooie:nuts and bolts. The explorations in game is pretty good. The graphics is pretty good. My biggest complaint about the game is there are quite a number of mission that require to built a specific vehicle to finish the mission, while most of the parts required is still missing. I just played the classic banjo xbla, my personal impression is the graphics looks bad and control are clunky. It's one of the reason's i think, old games cant compete with new games. Graphics is immersion. Graphics matters. For me games like pefect dark zero and viva pinata are adequate games. For me, Lionhead studios are alot worse than Rare. Games like Fable 3 is terrible game.
