Whats up with Internet 2.0 ? update Can't tell if this topic is serious or not... Web 2.0 etc just refers to the approach of dynamic site design over static pages...don't matter how fat your pipe is google isn't gonna load faster.

Im trying to find the fastest bandwidth speeds , and I remember reading something about internet 2.0. Fiber optic lines I know are fast , we got copper line bottle necks. 4G here beats DSL, Cable is fastest here I think ,not sure about satellite. someone care to clarify ? is anything faster then fiber optic lines ?

INehalemEXI Im trying to find the fastest bandwidth speeds , and I remember reading something about internet 2.0. Fiber optic lines I know are fast , we got copper line bottle necks. 4G here beats DSL, Cable is fastest here I think ,not sure about satellite. someone care to clarify ? is anything faster then fiber optic lines ? DSL is a broken technology, I believe DSL (ADSL 2+) peaks at 24Mb but its rate adaptive and is determined by distance from the source. It can be bonded which requires additional phone lines but effectively allows concurrent connections to be sync'd. Not clued up on satellite but last I heard it peaked at 18Mb, its not cheap and latency (typically up to 1000ms) means its a no go for gaming. Ideally aimed at rural areas where DSL/cable is unavailable. Cable is the daddy, in the UK (can't speak for other countries) consumer connections of 100Mb are available. Its only let down by contention ratios enforced during peak hours or locations. This has recently been taken a step further with FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet) which enables fibre optic speeds over existing telephony infrastructures. This has seen speeds of up to 160mb available to consumers. 4G doesn't really get a look in over any of the above, its primarily sourced for mobile access and as such is limited. So yeah, fibre is as good as it gets. :)

B Man Kansas City has internet 3.0 courtesy of Google. Kansas City, Kansas to clarify, not Kansas City, Missouri. Also it is in a crap part of town where hardly anyone can afford a computer much less internet. They picked a terrible area to beta test Google Fiber. I signed up for it hoping that it would come down to Belton but alas, the ghetto gets it first.
