Running out of FPS games - Tuesday, December 18, 2012 10:53 AM ( #1 )
This may sound crazy to a lot of people but I'm currently running out of FPS games to play, and was wondering if there is any recommendations on the PS3 that I haven't played yet that are worth playing. Here is a list of games I've already beaten:

Singularity
Fallout 3  (I've poured 62 hours into this game so I don't think I can bring myself to play NewVegas. Way too time consuming)
Resistance Fall of Man
Resistance 2
Resistance 3
BattleField Badcompany 2
CoD: MW1
CoD: MW2
CoD: MW3
CoD: Black Ops 1  (Worst game I have played in my life, I'm sorry)
KillZone 2
KillZone 3
Borderlands
Crysis 2 (Very overhyped and mediocore at best)
Also, I own Borderlands 2 already. But I'm not really in a mood for a shoot and loot game since I already did that in FO3.

Games I will not play:

Crysis 1 (Crysis2 has ruined my view on the Crysis franchise)

Black Ops 2 (I will get this when it drops to 20 bucks which is probably 2 years from now)

Bioshock (I played halfway through the game and I LOVED the setting, story, and universe. But I thought the gameplay and combat was way too messy and cluttered all over the place. I felt like I was only dragging myself through the gameplay just to see the story.)

RAGE (Too much like F03 and I've already spent too many hours on that game. Playing RAGE will leave a stale taste in my mouth)

There has to be something out there! If not in retail stores, maybe on the PSN store. I'm thinking of getting one of the following games but I don't have enough insight on them. Was wondering if you guys could help me.

KillZone HD ( I know this is a PS2 game, and thats what worries me. Is it worth playing today if I'm craving for a good FPS? I loved KZ2 and KZ3.)

Darkness2 (I would love to get this but is it more of a shooter or a RPG? I don't want to be cumbered with too many RPG elements since I'm in a craving for FPS)

Medal of Honor 2010 (Really short campaign is preventing me from getting it for 20 bucks)

Any other recommendations? Any help is appreciated my friends

Darkness 2 would be my suggestion.  Not too much of an RPG IMHO (very light).  Not like Far Cry 3, which is another one I would suggest but you seem to be more of a purist FPS gamer.

I think you might be finding yourself with less 'traditional' FPS games next gen as a lot of them are moving towards combining RPG and FPS as one.

Never played the original Killzone, so can't speak on that one.

Crysis. The fact that you played Crysis 2 before 1 wasn't a smart idea in itself.

RAGE plays nothing like Fallout 3. Just because they both have a post apocalyptic setting doesn't mean jack. Either way it's your loss. You won't find a shooter with tighter controls than RAGE this gen, that plus the varied and smart enemy AI.

edit:
woops didn't read that ps3 part, still if you have a decent gaming rig try out Blacklight retribution , AAA quality( if not better) F2P FPS. This is  not pay to win by any means, you can rent guns and special ammos of Paying players with in-game  currency with at least 2 good game session or at worst 5 bad ones. Even then, your default equipment  fares very well against paying players.

Agree 100% with this.  Wish more games had the AI and diversity that this game had.

THANK YOU, I get tired of being the only one that though RAGE was a good game.  Unless you are being sarcastic and taking jabs at someone.. then i'm sad :(

The ending is abrupt as hell, but the game was really well done. (if you excuse the post release massive patches that fixed up the game).

The game was both beautiful and had solid gunplay. I don't think I've enjoyed FPS gameplay as much as I did in RAGE.

Isn't/Wasn't Bulletstorm and Bioshock2 free on PS+?
Either are worth a shot.

You should rethink Bioshock1, Crysis1 and RAGE. They're all pretty good shooters.
Other than that, err... OrangeBox?... and Prey, if you can find it.

Oh, and F.E.A.R.

I loved rage, The ending didn't really disappoint me, I'd love to see a sequel.

The best FPS on the market right now is Black Ops 2.

Spec Ops the Line XCom Enemy Unknown (though not FPS) may still fulfill your need.

Running out of FP..... I don't even...... How could you run, that's like not having any RPGs to play last gen.

Darkness 2 is a great game, it's only about 6 hours long though (which is fine).

Go back and play Bioshock, same with Crysis 1. Far Cry 3 is super fun. Metro 2033 is pretty good too.

He should be able to get it dirt cheap now, though, so should alleviate that concern a bit.

At least it wasn't as trollish as his first comment that went the way of the do-do.

No idea what a casual FPS is. It's like we're creating new genres just for the sake of it.

Beat me to it.  I had, and am stilling having, a blast with RAGE.  Interested in buying The Scorchers DLC soon.
